No, I'm not looking for an R rated Spider-man. There's a gulf of difference between what DC is doing and wanting to see what Spider-man does as he ages. The Raimi Trilogy got to touch on it some in the second and third movies and there is a wealth of storylines in the comics of an older Peter navigating adult life. We've now gotten our third live action look at Peter in high school. That's probably enough for now.

Yeah, I'm with you where I want to see him in college next too and I'm not saying you were calling for an "R" rated Spider-Man at all. It's just a slippery slope when we get too far ahead of ourselves in wanting to age and mature everything up to tailor more towards the older generation, all while neglecting and forgetting about the next generation of fans coming up. Lets just let things progress naturally. Again, I haven't seen Far From Home and technically don't even know for sure Andrew or Tobey are even in the movie, even though their villains clearly are, but if they are in it and successful in it, I'd totally be up for something like an Amazing Spider-Man 3 movie running concurrently with the Tom Holland series of films. My guess is they go more the introducing a new Spider-Man like Miles Morales route in order to add more diversity to the casts, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be up for seeing Tobey or Andrew once again. While I hated The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I actually really loved the first one and believe it is one of the most underrated superhero movies of all time. I loved Andrew in the role.

I've got this weird feeling there is going to be multiple concurrent cinematic Spider-men soon (In addition to Into the Spider-verse). If Sony is truly trying to build a standalone Spider-verse, it's going to require introducing their own live action Spider-man at some point. That will be the one that gets to deal with Tom Hardy's Venom, Morbius, Kraven, et al., not Tom Holland.

I've thought for years Sony should do this and it should be Miles. Then have both Spider-mans jump back and forth here and there. Again, I feel stupid saying anything knowing I might be the only one on here who hasn't seen Far From Home. This is killing me. Man, I must love my wife to wait all the way until tomorrow to see it with her.

I think that's part of the thing though. My enjoyment of that type of character is waning as I get older as it gets harder to identify with them. I guess I want to see what happens next as opposed to seeing Peter Parker navigate the trials and tribulations of teenage-dom one more time.
I'm 100% down for this (re: "them"). I hope the success of this movie, and specifically of that aspect of it clears the way for additional movies for them.

To be fair, I was in the exact same state of mind when the TASM movies dropped. It felt like we had just told this story with Toby Maguire and I wasn't ready for more yet. I did watch TASM1 on DVD, but to this day haven't seen TASM2. Given how much I enjoy Andrew Garfield's acting performance (PLEASE DEAR LORD GIVE THIS MAN THE AWARD FOR TICK TICK BOOM!!!!!), I'm going to rectify that sin soon, and just hope that it isn't as bad as everyone says it is.

Oh, it is. HOWEVER, it does have some really good Gwen Stacy stuff mixed in with all the trash. Those few positives make it worth checking it out.

My sons and I rewatched them all over the last month or so. I only had vague memories of watching TASM1 once and not 100% certain I even watched TASM2 all the way through. TASM1 was really well done, it just got lost in the shuffle a bit of the exploding MCU.

TASM2 had the unfortunate side effect of releasing a month after Winter Solider, in addition to not being anywhere near as good a 1.

I'm an originalist and since the first issue came out in 1963, I want to see a multiverse where 67 year old Peter Parker/Spider Man navigates Medicare Part A and Part B.

You must be a big Judge Dread fan.

In the comics, for a while, there were 3-4 Spider-man titles and they all covered different points in his life. The Spider-geddon story line cut it back to just Amazing Spider-man.

Saw No Way Home last night. Really enjoyed it. I have some issues, but ultimately it was on point for me.

I’ve also quite enjoyed Hawkeye. More than I expected to, for sure, though I’m not caught up with it. Damn kids always have something going on to stay current.

Well TBH my knowledge of Spider Man and the Marvel Universal pretty much ends around 1989-90 when I stopped buying comics.

I haven't been disappointed by Hawkeye, but it just feels like a really long, really meh movie. I still hold Wanda and Loki as the best of these "TV" spinoffs.

I'm actually very surprised that you haven't seen this yet. When do you plan to?

Yeah yeah yeah yeah....... You and me both. I've mentioned on here that my wife wanted to go with me to this one and couldn't go until tomorrow night, which is when we have tickets. I didn't have the heart to tell her no, I'm going by myself. Don't get me wrong, it strongly crossed my mind to sneak out to a showing during work and then pretend like I haven't seen it with her, but the angel on my right shoulder won out against the devil on my left. I mean, why couldn't it have been Eternals or something she wanted to see with me? I could have waited 5 days for that.

With all that said, I did try to preempt her last night that we may possibly see other Spider-Men show up in this movie, which would be Spider-Mans from the previous series of movies. Her eyes immediately glazed over. I followed it up with the question "you were aware there was other Spider-Man movies prior to the MCU ones right??". Her answer: "No" I stopped the conversation there. I joked previously on here that I'm now waiting for after the movie when she turns to me saying "hey, I thought you said Batman would show up in this movie"..... smh...... In her defense, she has watched quite a few MCU movies with me and has enjoyed quite a few of them, particularly any of them with Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Captain America or Iron Man. Past those 4, she loses interest quickly.

The movie, on the whole, is really bad. But Garfield and Stone still deliver brilliant performances, and it's worth seeing at least once for that reason alone. Garfield is still my favorite of the live action Spider-Men we've gotten.

I'm old enough to remember when Andrew Garfield won the act-off with Adam Driver, Lucas Hedges, and Alden Erenrich.

So with Daredevil being Spider-man’s lawyer, do I need to watch all the Netflix shows? Wife and I started Daredevil tonight and we realized that Kingpin is in that show and he just showed up in Hawkeye too.

I never wanted to watch them since they weren’t “officially” MCU, but now I wanna know how much we should watch? It’s a lot of content and I doubt a lot of it is good. At least that was always the word of mouth review.

What do we need to watch?
Bumping this question because I have the same one and feel the same way.
