Or they have success and he’s in line to take over for Mack when he retires.
I think most would view a situation like this as Mack being a figure head while OC/DC run the team.
I think hiring the Chiz would be a mistake, but his kids are old now. He could have very well meant wanting to spend more time with his family years ago, but now I think those kids are all college age.
Mack still has a lot of good connections within NC high school football.. he built UNC before. He’s got decent talent left over from Fedora. I bet our recruiting improves with him and Kliff can run an offense. Mack won’t be much of a coach, rather a CEO which he always excelled at.
ACC coastal is not exactly the Big12 of the late 2000s and early 10s. I’m excited to have him on board, especially if he’s bringing all the staff in that is rumored.
DL coach at Michigan State is another rumored upgrade for us... Kingsbury is supposed to be bringing his OC and OL coach.

ETA: Chizik left to watch his son and daughters in High School, his son will be graduating this spring. He was basically part time to help Papuchis get his feet underneath him, he improved our defense 50 spots in that short time. The guy can still run a good Defense... not so much a whole team.

I can see Chizik's interest. Based on Mac Brown's history, he isn't really a hands on coach, so the assistants will run the day to day. If successful, it could resurrect Chizik's coaching career a bit. I suppose the same argument could be made for Kingsbury, but he would seem to be a square peg compared to the other 2 coaches.
I don't think he'll do well but there is no comparison to what Brown did at Texas and Miles at LSU. Miles walked in to a year in year out national title contender and barely kept it on the road. Brown awoke a sleeping giant. The 10 years prior to Brown going to Austin, they were 15 games over .500, Brown's record there was 110 games over .500. The two aren't even comparable.
None that I know, but he will be getting paid 3.5 mil for the next three years I think. I could see him takin over a smaller program. I’m not sure we’d want him here at ISU as an OC... the rumors were that he was a little too arrogant for the NC high school coaches. Not something that would mix well here.
