Luke Combs at JTS

Thought Dierks was great. Saw him when he was getting started. Luke Combs was really good. The Oklahoma twister song was great.

Took forever to get out of parking lot. We were in the back corner of a grass lot. Probably sat an hour. Got to Algona at 2:45 AM. Well worth it.
Buf, which side were you on? We got home at 1:20-1:30 and had two stops along the way.

So was traffic leaving worse than football this year?

Wife saw some FB posts of people saying it's the worse traffic they had ever seen, but I'm wondering if they were from people that don't go to games regularly.
Haunted Forest was worse than football, but I was also stuck way in the back this time compared to about halfway back for football. Didn't move for at least a half hour and got out of the lot around 12:40.

Side note: It looks like they recently cleared a bunch of trees to expand the number of parking spots for this fall.

Have always thought for events like this Ames should have dedicated parking/shuttle lots.
Choose a few huge lots when they arent needed and maybe even kick them a few bucks if theyre a business. Spots like:
Cornerstone Church
Ames Middle School
Ames High

Where are you expecting somerset to reside? There's a somerset development in ames which is a 2 mile ride that would make $97 ridiculous.

Ahh. Different story.

I would hope you're getting Cook County taxes and Lake Michigan winds if this is a trip within Ames.

Time for an entrepreneur to start a fleet of post concert rickshaws.

Overall ISU does a horrible job setting up buses at off site lots to get people back and forth. We went to a game a few years ago at Clemson, and parked in an off stadium lot. They had 2 or 3 buses waiting when we got there, when they were full, they ran you down to the stadium and came right back. After the game, we were told to jump on any bus and they would be stopping at all drop-offs along the route. They also had a lane for only buses leaving the stadium, making it easier for them the get the buses out to the lots and back to pick up more people. Really well run operation.

There are rickshaws for football. Don’t see any last night.

I think they also cleared the trees so they would be able to build a new pedestrian bridge at that location.

Some of that is because 90% of the stadium parking is considered adjacent or walking distance from Jack Trice. Other places where there is very limited parking near the stadium and are dependent on more distant and offsite parking, they have had the necessity to make sure they have better shuttle service. ISU does not have that immediate necessity, so it has never been a priority.

I agree there are several areas involving traffic and parking that could be improved, but because its not an absolute necessity they arent going to prioritize it.

Do people expect a 50+ mile Uber ride to be cheap?

Complaining about price gouging during an event? Probably should just stay home. Is this guy also shocked when he pays $15+ for a beer at these events?

Drive yourself if you dont want to pay Uber. Or maybe find a buddy to give you a ride if you dont want to pay the high price during major events.

Or walk if its only 2 miles.

Could Ames use more shuttles, Ubers, etc. Probably, but expecting it and also expecting it to be a cheap ride on one of the biggest money making nights of the year?

More Ubers in Ames is completely out of their control.

Somerset neighborhood isn’t 50+ miles.

But using uber surge rating as something to fault Ames is pretty ridiculous.

I mean the surge downtown Des Moines to go back home less than 10 miles is $100+ after a show at Wells Fargo arena.
Time spent in traffic for a single ride is probably factored in.
