Lucca signs in Germany

Lucca is not shady as a person...I think Lucca did not have a firm grasp of reality with regards to how good he viewed himself at basketball. Which led him to shady actions.

The timing is really weird on the whole thing. I really hope that the team comes together over this. I want to wish Lucca well, but wonder how this came together at this particular time.

Actually, the more I thought about it...The timing made sense, but it was bad timing for the team.

care to elaborate on how you came to that conclusion?

If you back up far enough(last spring something really big for ISU happened), Lucca starts thinking about heading back to Germany, same issue, then as it is now. Felt he could be doing more for the team(Bigger Role). I'll let you guys debate if he is capable of a bigger role. Staff expected an exit after the season, not during. So, I'm sure discussions with Germany have been constant since. Insert Nebraska game.

It's too bad that betwwen the NCAA or the college involved couldn't recoup the cost of having him around for three yrs. Atleast for quitting in midseason; really its a wasted scholly. Atleast for this year; it really does hurt the school and team. Make Lucca atleast pay for this year - he's got the money now.

"He once scored 106 points in a youth game when he was 16 years old"

Wow if true....

Too bad the writer didn't do all of his homework... If he had, I'm positive he would have ended that sentence with "however his team lost when the player he was guarding made a shot at the buzzer to score his 150th point...":jimlad:

Looks like a person was leaving the team si that they had an opening to fill. They must have made the call to Lucca to say the schedule has been moved up on his depatrture from the Clones. I wish him luck. It is done now and water is over the dam. We have Clones all over the world playing on other teams.

Nebraska still has two German imports (long names) who say they want schoolling before taking off, one from Puerto Rico (Diaz), and one from Brazil that they just recruited sucessfully. That juco recruit just announced yesterday is a monster at 6-11 and 315.

A couple of years ago when he was on his year of suspension, he fired off about 20 3's or so before a game (I want to say it was Texas). He made probably 16 or 17 of them, since he was unguarded. If he didn't have anyone in his face and took maybe 45 shots, I could see him hitting that easily.

I once rebounded for him during a drill in which he made 78 3's in a row

No offense, but I'm calling BS.

It was back his first year when he first got here and during the preseason workouts at State Gym. I was rebounding and Craig was there too. The drill was you would see how many 3s you could hit. If you missed 1, you were fine and could continue your count. If you missed 2 in a row, you had to swish (make it hitting no rim) the next shot to stay alive. He worked his way up to 90 missing a few here and there and after he hit 90, he missed 2 in a row and I thought he was gonna lose it but thats where he went lights out. He didnt miss another shot until 169. He ended at 218, the highest number anyone from any of McDermotts teams. When Lucca got hot, Craig was just goin crazy, jumpin up and down, yellin and screamin, super excited. This was before either had played a game, but both were having a great time.
