Looking at 2 excellent freshmen RBs

I thought Sama made significant improvement as the season went on last year. He found out that his coach was not going to play him unless he hit the hole and he ran North and South. It took him a while but he learned from it. I really liked Hansen last year and I expect him to be even better this year. He needs to stay healthy. I expect both those guys to make big jumps this year. The other guys are wildcards. Very talented and looking for opportunities. Hansen and Sama better show out. Competition is great and will make all these guys better.

If he was just a touch faster in open field he would be all world.
i don't really remember him getting chased down by anyone when he broke one. either way, top end speed is overrated for a RB... if its not painfully slow and you have other desirable attributes (pass blocking, vision, burst, strength) you can still be an incredibly effective player.

Breece Hall is what happens when you have the extra bit.

Holy **** you have bad takes in the offseason too?
I don’t think it’s the worst take in the world. Not that I’m calling for it, but if he’s sitting 3rd on the depth chart and we are struggling at CB opposite Williams, I could see them giving him a shot. They were recruiting him as a CB until he blew up in the HS playoffs.

Now, I don’t see it happening and I think he’ll have a nice year at RB, but if he ends the season behind a freshman, he’s gonna be in the portal the day the season ends.

It's almost like Sama is a young guy who is still learning. He probably was able to just get by on athleticism in hs. There's been a lot of guys in the CMC tenure that took a year or two to go from "geez" to "wow". Noel is prob my top candidate personally.

With Hansen, just have to limit the reps/hits, and keep him healthy. He's real good, always does the right thing, gives max effort - but 25 touches a game was too much for his body.

If Peppers, or Sama, or madguy30, or whoever can take maybe 10-15 touches and be just as good, that would really help Hansen imho. And goes without saying if the OL finally is Top 3 in conference, that would certainly allow that too.

If you need like 7 yards with clear open space available, I'm here for it.

Seriously can anyone who even played high school ball imagine playing like 5 full football plays without feeling like death?

I don't understand why anyone would assume that Sama, who got regular snaps at running back his first two years, would switch to a new position and magically see the field more there.

This is a guy that had 124 carries last year (40 more than his freshman season) and 587 yards rushing. 27 less carries than Hanson. It's not like he played 10 snaps all season and is buried on the depth chart.

It's not the worst, but probably in the top 10.

Why doesn't he play both. Get on the field more that way

Didn't Mike Warren run for 1000 yards then rarely see the field again? Just because someone played one year doesn't automatically mean they should still play.

I'm a huge Sama fan, as of right now I just think there are better pure running backs on the roster. I didn't really think he's looked that good with the exception of a few long runs against BYU and K-State two years ago.

Some of that may be the fact that we were spoiled by Montgomery and Breece for so many years.

Yeah I remember he was over 1300 one year and then dropped dramatically the next couple years - any one know why- injuries?
