If South Carolina can manage to buyout Muschamp’s 13.2 million dollar contract, I think Texas can buyout Herman’s 15 million dollar one if they want to. With that said, I think they end up 8-2 at the end of the year and won’t fire him.

Depends on the structure of it. The way Muschamp’s was structured, it’s no more than $3 million per year, and that’s if he doesn’t get a job anywhere else.

The winner essentially locks in a big 12 championship birth. It’s Ehlingers final home game.. Yes... Texas fans will be rooting for Texas.

You left out the simple possibility that Longhorn fans will root for Texas to win...
...then fire Herman at the end of the season anyway.

If Urban Meyer wants the job, Herman will be gone. Not sure Meyer actually wants the job or just likes the attention of being considered for it.

Texas will always root for Texas. I agree with the thought though that if Urban Meyer wants the Texas Job next year, he'll get it, buyout be darmed. The question is does Urban want to coach again? He kind of looks/talks like he does, or maybe just likes the attention on the subject?

So it's Urban no coach again? Urban coach Texas? Urban go to Hollywood and coach USC (in a year or two)? Take your pick.

My youngest now lives in Austin and has already attended a Texas game. Sent me a hookum picture while at game. He will probably root for them. The Toledo alum and myself will root for ISU. On another note, I can't imagine Urban wanting to coach again and especially if it hurts Ohio State. He would lose his sainthood level with all Buckeye fans. There must be a way hermie can lose friday and still stay the coach. We do not want to wake a sleeping giant with a coach change because if the right guy is hired......OH ****!

Not sure Urban cares about Ohio State sainthood. But might be a factor.

To your last point yes. Texas loses tomorrow and indefinitely remains coach of TX. That would be my solution also.

No, I’m saying he wouldn’t say anything out of respect for Herman. After all, he also hasn’t denied it—to my knowledge.

People keep talking about it because people on the other side of the equation may not share that perspective.

Never know what happens. I always thought they said Ash had gotten friendly with Herman’s wife (maybe vice versa) and they are together again.
