Long Range plans for Hilton

I couldn't find many schematic designs for Hilton Renovations other than this outdated website displaying 20 proposed suites; http://www.henneman.com/projects/160106

Hilton magic was built on the backs of screaming fans for generations, don't replace fans with suites. With the demand for tickets and soaring ticket prices, revenue is fine. I would support improved wi-fi access and cosmetic changes to the exterior.

which brings me to another thing we could add to fix at hilton: parking management. The lots after games are a complete cluster**** sometimes, and are the reason so many leave early.

You've obviously never been to CHA. You could not design a worse parking situation. Now THATS a cluster.

I've never had any trouble getting out of the Hilton lots. Park in the Century section, walk 5 minutes, pull right out. But if I had $100M, I would not park in the closest lots, I can see how that could be a zoo getting out driving through the people.

It's because dumbasses try to leave at the 4 minute timeout and are too full of themselves to notice a guy hauling at them full sprint. It's a lot harder to run when you have to weave through people

You wanna see stress and panic, watch the ushers faces whenever it happens. Always having to hold people out of the way from getting lit up.
That is the case some of the time but there have been a couple times this year already where he has had a clear path and still hasn't made it or has barely made it. You can see him sucking air big time. I understand he's a student, beer is probably 45% of his diet, fattening foods are the remaining 55% and intramurals aren't enough cardio but come on man...

Back on subject... I want Hilton to be the most intimidating arena in the country, doing anything that works against that shouldn't be done.

I feel like any major renovation to Hilton will force us to play a season elsewhere while they renovate. For example: TCU.

I doubt it, but depending on major it is, if it made Hilton that much more kick***, then one season at Wells Fargo Arena wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Again though, I doubt it would displace the team. Start work in early March, and you have until mid November. You could schedule road/neutral games to start the season if you need another week or two.

I honestly hope we never have any suites though.

I think any luxury seating would be an open "box seat" design instead of a closed "suite" style.

At WFA, they have boxes that seat 6-8 at the top of the lower bowl (just below the ribbon board in the pic below), in a location similar to the inner concourse at Hilton. Each one has its own small fridge, plus access to a lounge area.

New lights would be fine. So many people already complain about people not paying attention to the game. It will only get worse with suites. I personally hope they never change the interior of Hilton, the seats are spaced right, the sightlines are good, and it can be crazy loud when it gets rockin. Some things just don't need to be changed.

Has no bearing to the conversation but I found of pic of Hilton I've never seen before. Thought I'd drop it here. 1970.

Now that is a big with wingspan who can protect the rim and operate from the corner!

Even a few rows of "box seats" in the inner concourse behind the current lower bowl could do the trick. Tie it in with passes to Johnny's. Maybe only do the sections between the baselines. Or just the end near Johnny's.

I didn't find anything useful in that link about a Hilton renovation (other than the short paragraph overview). Instead I just found some concepts of a new basketball practice facility connected to Hilton on the south end, which clearly was changed to Sukup out in west Ames. So whatever else is in that link is potentially just as outdated if not moreso.

Has anything major changed for ISU athletics in the past 5 or 6 years? :jimlad:

I think the Hilton renovations are still part of the long term plan and I'm going to guess that is what JP will start to focus on after the SEZ is finished. With the current success of the basketball program(s) it should be priority to upgrade facilities. What that will entail, I'll be anxious to find out. I think suites are necessary at some point but adding capacity should be included. The concourses and corners have potential for that. The attached practice facility would be the cherry on top.

So, I see that increasing club seats is not in that plan. However, where are the 542 club seats it claims we already have?
I'm guessing the "Club seats" are the temporary seating which aren't Cyclone Alley on the floor.

Actually have multiple flavors of pop, so fans have an actual choice. Gouge us for $3-5 per cup of pop, at least let's have choice.

Or you could just bring your desired pop in in your pocket for free!
