Unlike BYU they like to slow it down I hears, could be double trouble if they can get an early lead. Luckily ISU can play a slowed down game unlike Hoiberg years.

According to team rankings stats, they are 252 out of 364 in possessions per game.
But they are faster than:

Still, Lipscomb is in the bottom third of pace.
BYU is 144
ISU is 81

That’s really arrogant considering we did lose to Oklahoma State, a worse rated team than this one.
Yeah with or without anyone, ISU will need to play well.
Just watched some game replays on YouTube, I think Jackson and Jefferson are going to dominate them.

Both of them have been really good at using their bodies to push smaller defenders back and under the rim, without fouling too.
Well if we continue to get the current version of Milan and Dishon we should be fine.

Their best win is over a team that’s like #100 kenpom. They lost to EKU twice.
BYU who is far more talented than this team, needed 19 threes to beat us short-handed by 4 points. I’m not real worried.

Worth noting that Lipscomb turns the ball over less than almost any other team in the country. Averaging less than 10 a game, 13th best in the country
Well good news is I don't think anyone will ever top what BYU did to us from behind the arc again this season...especially with one elite defender back to help on closeouts.
We just need to expose our mismatches.
Curious to where that 14 a game came from. Also, they play a slower pace, so it would be interesting to see what that is like when they have to speed up their pace.

A little advance metrics digging. Lipscomb's TO%/100 possessions is 26th in the nation, so yes, they do a good job not turning the ball over.
But the vast majority of their games were against teams in the bottom half of the country in TO%/100 possessions. Against teams in the top 50 in TO%/100 possessions they had 16 (Duquesne #43) and 18 (Alabama A&M #21). They had 18 turnovers against Arkansas (#161) and 16 against Jacksonville (#86).
They take care of the ball, but can be forced into turnovers by teams that do it. Cyclones are 15 in TO%/100 possessions
Would think Jefferson. Momo, Heise and Watkins will share, depending on rotations.
Before I say anything else, it’s the NCAA tournament. ISU knows better than most from experience that anything can happen.
That said…
Yes ISU struggles to defend the 3, particularly against teams that spread out the floor and pass very well to get wide open 3s. Big 12 play, especially our games against BYU, exposed this weakness. That said, while Lipscomb takes and makes a lot of 3s, I doubt they’re a team that passes like our Big 12 peers and instead is a team that hasn’t found a 3pt shot they’re afraid of taking. I’m not afraid of the team that jacks up a bunch of ill-advised 3s and happens to make a bunch of them; I’m terrified of the team that knows how to make the extra pass to a shooter who hits a large percentage of wide open 3s… and I just doubt Libscomb is that kind of team.
I also think it comes as no surprise the last few games Otz’s commitment to have this team dominate the paint offensively, as if he knew we weren’t going to have Gilbert for the tournament. With the way the Presidents have been playing in the paint lately, the way Lipsey isn’t afraid to slash and draw contact, and even with Momcilovic lately finding the part of his game that involves him getting involved with the offense inside the 3pt line, I don’t like Lipscomb’s ability to defend us.
So yeah - if we play offense and defense the way we’re capable of, we should win by double digits, if not by 20+.
I'm not going to discount Lipscomb. The numbers say they play the kind of game that gives ISU problems. But we've had to sustain what we do through something like 20 Q1 games. We're more tested than they are and I expect that to show on the court.

Unless Iowa State has a lot of live ball turnovers, I don’t see this as being particularly close. Sure, they shoot well, but they are also at a low major level and the athletes they play against at aren’t on the same level as the worst Big 12 team. If ISU plays their regular defense, they will be so sped up their heads will spin.
Obviously anything can happen, but I would be shocked if this is close.

If ISU is sharp, can hit shots, avoid foul trouble, etc ideally it's a decent lead for a lot of the game with Libscomb hitting a three here and there to stay within striking distance and then it's a matter of closing it out.
