It's crazy to think of how many injuries we've had at a key position and we've had enough depth there to still shut down teams. Can't really afford to lose any more and need to get some healthy for the back half of the schedule as those guys are having to play a lot of snaps out of necessity. Not sure what our plan is if we get any thinner at the position with injuries. We have some depth at safety that maybe in an emergency someone like Freyler could fill in as he already is pretty involved with the run defense from his spot?
not a football coach, but i'd recommend getting thicker.

What the heck are you talking about? We still have linebackers on the roster Heacocknhasn’tbused yet, who would be eons better than switching offensive players.

Including two scholarship freshmen who were here for Spring ball, in Mason Miller and Danny Inglis. And they aren’t the only ones.

Why are we doing Chicken Little?
Lanning prepared to be LB over an offseason, he didn't just switch over midseason. you can do that in 8-man iowa football, you can't do that in big boy football.

If I had to guess here’s how I translate the Campbell injury report:

Brezina: He’ll play this week, but likely on a reduced snap count.

Barrett: don’t expect to see him back for at least a month, possibly the rest of the year

Bacon: not a chance in hell we see him this year

McLaughlin: might see him next month, who knows

Ellis: wouldn’t surprise me to see him dress but be held out unless needed this week

UCF is the #1 rushing team in the B12 by a large margin. A 4-2-5 deployment would counteract that right? Maybe that could buy us some time until after the bye week.

Here's my understanding about the LBs

Willich- done for year
Bacon- done for year
McLaughlin- might be back for November?
Klosterman- done for year
Brezina- Not 100%, maybe back soon?
Sadowksy - Not 100%, maybe back soon?
Kennard- I think he's back to playing now?

I also know Ebel and Ellis both had injuries vs WVU. Do we know their status?

If anyone has any corrections let me know. Pretty crazy situation.
Injury report is just next man in

The good news is that we have already played run-heavy teams in Houston and West Virginia and fared really well. The team will be well-prepared to play against this type of team due to recent opponents.

This is true and the run game is their best asset, but it’s inflated a bit. They ran it all over some bad defenses and it’s trending the wrong way for them.

New Hampshire - 54 carries, 454 yards
Sam Houston - 57 carries, 384 yards
TCU - 54 carries, 289 yards
Colorado - 44 carries, 177 yards
Florida - 40 carries, 108 yards
Cincinnati - 40 carries, 196 yards

So we still have to be concerned with it for sure, but it’s not as daunting as the overall stats show. The tougher the competition has gotten, the tougher the sledding has gotten for them on the ground.

Definitely agree we’ll be looking to execute a similar game plan to WVU.

Out of the Scout team / Redshirting group, who is on scholarship? I think Mason Miller is, but not sure who else.

PWO:
Lance McShane

Scholarship:
Mason Miller
Danny Inglis

Couldn't determine for sure if Nick Reinicke or Alec Cook were on Scholorship or not... guessing not, but don't know.
