Let's Talk Beating West Virginia

I think we get something figured out in the run game and that relieves some of the pressure on Dekkers. The defense continues to do its thing and we get the W.
Does that mean someone else is going to do the play calling?

Could we have fewer than 3 turnovers please? I like our chances in that case.

On this weeks game and ISU’s rushing attack:

There’s a reason Iowa State is favored by 7 this week.

I think this is a game where the cyclones will be “punching down” a weight class and I feel like this team in specific has been good at that.

Though they haven’t beaten any great teams and lost a lot of close games to evenly matched squads, the Cyclones have rolled vs inferior competition.

Obviously improvement must come in the run game. I would like to see some additional creativity, innovation and promise on the ground vs a weak WVU defense this week. I think a key reason as to why the cyclones can’t run the ball is due to the predictable and bland run plays.

The Cyclones run very little motion on plays that end up being runs, they very rarely run and misdirection or pull any lineman or run and pitches/reverses etc. This was evident in the game vs OU. One big reason as to why OU was primarily able to move the ball on the ground vs our solid rush D was because of the scheme to their run game. They ran motions, RPOs, pitches, fake pitches, options, QB powers, and other run plays that are created to cause confusion for the defense.

The Cyclones simply aren’t good enough up front to just line up and run the ball up the middle or off tackle, that’s just a fact. Creativity and innovation needs to be shown if the cyclones want to avoid being one dimensional.

WV wont make it to 20 points; long trip road game. So ISU just needs 21.

Unfortunately i think ISU will need a defensive TD to get there. But ISU SHOULD win this game.

I think WV is better than us, we drop another.
I AGREE especially with the FORECAST OF RAIN...With NO RUNNING GAME AND HAVING TO PASS AGAINST A DEFENSE WITH A 3 MAN FRONT AND 8 DROPPING INTO PASS COVERAGE ...It doesn't look all that good for a win. ...HAVING SAID THAT I HOPE I AM WRONG!!

..........and remember GO CYCLONES

We went back to Manning's pathetic, poopy butt play calling last week after a decent offensive scheme against Texas. I don't think Manning gets it because the one time it worked out of 4 tries, he goes back to the same scheme that failed thrice. Tom Manning is the definition of insanity: the guy tries the same thing over and over again, thinking it will eventually work. It never does and the results are always the same.

Manning will run a similar scheme that he has in every conference game other than Texas, and because of it, West Virginia's defense looks good (we made Oklahoma's awful defense look very good last week). Sprinkle in some kind of a special teams error as well, since that usually happens once or more a game. WVU wins this one 23-17.

If WVU was a t full strength, Id like WVU by 3.
WVU is far from healthy.
Their power backs, are both out.
yes the one that ran for 183 yards over baylor's defense, and maybe the best freshman rb in country(7 ypc, 240 pounds, and fast).

2 starting offensive linemen are out.

3rd team running back is dinged up....
WVU has no speed at wr. Big bodies, but they have to catch contested balls all day--makes it hard on qb with no separation.

WVU maybe could run on ISU with it's 2 power rbs and starting oline. Wont be able to with 4th team rb and reshuffled oline.

WVU's defense cant cover a good high school team. Dekkers get right game is tomorrow. its cold, wet, WVU gets behind and packs it in.

ISU 42 WVU 13
