Let's all watch this erection together!

Do we know for sure what will be displayed? Instant Replays? Vintage flashbacks? ISU promos? Interviews? Crowd shots? Geico commercials?

Bet you'll but together some nifty entrance video stuff like this

At OU they'll show games during the commercial breaks ( not tv but trivia, follow the ball etc) They'll run a ton of ads during pregame, some special messages etc

If the marketing people get a hold of the new scoreboard it will all be a waste.

If the AD actually uses the new scoreboard to enhance the game-day experience with replays, game content, stats, and pertinent game information, I will personally up my donation in 2012 and willingly pay more for tickets (within reason, of course).

If it is a bigger version of Apple Shuffle, Pizza Hut delivering one 87 cent pizza to one person out of 40,000, Jeff Johnson's awful warbling, or animated cars speeding down an animated road I will reduce my donation in 2012 and will consider whether I renew tickets at all.

Odd that a scoreboard can make or break financial decisions made by groups and families but they have one opportunity to get this right and return sponsorship to its rightful place. The marketing people will have the final say - whether they hurt ISU Football by diluting the game day experience or by enhancing it and making it more attractive.

Let's hope they make the right decisions.

Even if they do what you don't want, you still still renew because of the product our staff puts on the field next year.

True to a point. If we go 8-4 or better with a declining game day experience it would not be in my best interest to not renew. You caught me.

Best combo would be a bowling team with a better game day experience. Then everybody wins... except my bank account... but at that point who cares?

With cool bowling shirts... :jimlad:

I'm not sure about how vendors work or how strict they can be with it, but I'd rather not have a hobo trying to sell me a ****** pun shirt as I walk towards the stadium a la our neighbors to the east.

It would have to be done right, that's for sure. But since it is ISU property, they should have the right to screen applicants and make sure they are selling quality stuff. And charge enough for the permit that they don't worry about taking money out of their own pockets from in-stadium concessions.

What I would like to see is them revamp that whole area between the Olsen and South 4th. First off, that glass wall is ugly...and so are those pillars, so get rid of them. Make the back end of the Olsen Building into a stage and possibly shape a bandshell into the back of the building. Then dig out the space in front of it so that there are levels of benches for seating. Finally, around the outside, have areas for venders to set up shop. South 4th is going to be closed on gamedays anyway, so why not set up venders there?

For some reason I don't think our intro video is going to be anything like that. It may have something to do with the significant list of accolades in that one that we can't match.

And don't forget, our board is nowhere near that wide. While the structure may be 180' wide, the video portion is more like 80'.

At least we've got OU beat on video board height! Theirs is 166x31, we're supposed to be 79.5x36. Everyone knows that height is far more important than width... :jimlad:

Looks like they have started putting on the video panels. Now this erection will be viewable in High Def.

Its good to know that even though theyve locked out the webcam controls to keep idiots off it (though also locking out the ability to fix that, and to look in detail on what's being worked on), that someone with access still found the time to point the damn thing towards east ames instead of straight at the videoboard.

A pic I took over lunch today.

The videoboard from that angle looks giant compared to the webcam angle.

Does anyone have an idea what the white tarp is doing on the concrete wall at the base of the east grandstands (visible in the webcam)?
