Last Final Ever!

Congratulations.... That was not (however) your final exam. You will be taking "final exams" in your dreams for the next 20 - 30 years. Test taking is listed as the second most common subject matter of our dreams.

those are the WORST! I've had one where I knew in the dream that I had been out of college for several years, but I still had a final to take. And I was freaking out because I knew I'd never been to the class since I'd been working.

This is a true story as well. However, my nightmares usually seem to be more centered around sleeping in or forgetting about a final and the mad dash to get there only to be too late by a long shot. I always seem to be running to class in these nightmares too, never driving or taking a bus. Not sure why. To be honest, I'm not sure that I've actually sat down and taken a final in a dream.

I love working compared to school. I know what I'm doing here, I was always bored in school. Plus taking home in two weeks, after taxes/insurance, etc is more than 3 months of full-time at Happy Joe's.

Regarding the dreams, I guess I'm not alone. I've been out 15 years and I still wake up sweating an exam that I'm late for, or am taking and realized I never went to class the whole semester.

Maybe the difference between you and me is that I've never known what I'm doing. Just kind of wing it in everything ;-).

The old(er) people that constantly long for college days whenever threads like these come up make me sad. I hope I'm not like that later in life.

Who would not long for a life where the only thing you truly had to worry about was passing a test and getting your loan money in on time. My worries list is a thousand fold that now. Man, you never get that back, and you take it for granted when you have it. College is truly a magical time where you do what you want with very little actual worries. Come back and tell us how college was when you have kids, a wife, a mortage, a job, retirement to plan, insurance issues, yard work, car repairs, kids college funds to save for, etc. I am not saying I don't love my life, but it isn't wake up at 10, sleep through class, play some video games, cram for a test, hit the gym, and head out to the party; repeat. There are plenty of days I'd go back.

Well...for some of us college wasn't such a vacation...get up for your 8 AM (with a mile walk to campus) and be in class most of the day...rush home and grab a bite before working from 5 until 9 or so (as long as they didn't send you home early), then get your classwork done...and make sure to keep an eye on your money so that you can pay your bills on time supporting yourself on a part-time job.

Did I have fun in college? Sure...lots of it...but I'd never go back. Honestly, I live my life to the best of my ability to be happy in today and not long for the future or the past...that leads to dissatisfaction. However...I will plead guilty to being completely over college with about a year and a half left.

Wait until you lay your head down at night and realize the only thing you have done during the day was sat, periodically walked around and stared at a computer. Only then will you appreciate school.

Don't forget go the fridge to scrounge up some food. You'll experience this more if you move somewhere where you don't know many people, like I did.

I still have plenty of nightmares about school. I don't remember any specifically about a test, usually about forgetting to do an assignment. I've had some crazy dreams about driving CyRide as well (used to work there).

Why is it everyone has that same stupid dream? In mine, I've decided to go back to school and realize during finals week that there was a class I registered for and then completely forgot about. My mom still has those dreams, and she's in her 60's.

Agreed on both accounts. But I really like my job so that helps. My friends and I always talk about how great it would be to go back to college for 1 year (and the ability to rebound after drinking like we all used to) WHILE getting paid our current salary. Now that would be the life!

This is the most common school dream I have as well. I realize there is a final coming up and I forgot to go to class all semester and do any of the homework. I've been out for 10 years and still have that dream a few times per year.

Wow, this is exactly me too. I usually realize halfway through the semester that I competely forgot about a class I was in. Scares the crap out of me every time.

I can't say that I suffer from the exam nightmares. I guess I will consider myself lucky in that regard.

Just finished my last final exam of grad school. Is there any better feeling in the academic or working world?

Congrats. I remember actually being sort of sad after my last final. I kind of wandered around campus for a couple hours and took it all in.
