a six-part documentary series that drops Friday on Netflix. It’s a binge-worthy, behind-the-scenes look at the 2015 season of the East Mississippi football team and its quest to win its third straight National Junior College Athletic Association championship.

Anyone else watch this? I started it because I was bored and ended up watching it straight through until 1am. There are a handful of names that I recognized from D-1 that had to go the JUCO route.

It seems like a brutally honest look into JUCO football players and the people around it. A handful of really talented guys who couldn't make it in D-1 on their first chance, and a ton of good players trying to make it to D-1. There aren't any direct ISU ties that I know of but it's easy to draw paralell's to ISU recruits like Malou.

I thought the academic advisor stole the show. The job she had to keep those guys in class and making grades was fascinating to watch.

Good series. Did not realize going into it that they were one of the teams in the brawl that was all over sports news last year. Cool to see the story behind that as well.

Best moment of the series is the film crew recording a meeting with a team asking a player what they can do to get him there.
"Get me my number."
"Done deal, anything else?"
"cameras...., there are cameras around."
"um... we follow the NCAA rules, so sorry."

Pretty good documentary. I would not want that academic advisors job. A lot of hand holding, and babysitting. I looked them up online, they beat Iowa Western in the 2014 Mississippi Bowl for the NJCAA natl championship. Never could find a score of that game, but it said 2014 National Champs on the banner at their football field.

Just finished it. It was an interesting watch. A lot of interesting personalities. Kind of sucks that they weren't able to play for the national championship.

I thought it was hilarious when the coach and the ref fought

This is a great series to watch but I was disappointed with the level of entitlement even for bounce back JuCo guys. They didn't seem to want to work hard or be coachable but each one of them thought they were just buying time until they reached the NFL. The Auburn commit QB was a joke---probably my least favorite of the show. I also thought the academic advisor was an enabler that didn't draw professional boundaries. All in all a great show

Yeah, I noticed a lot of the recruiters ask about guys characters. come on we know what's going on

He addressed that. When they lost they dropped in the polls. The polls have margin of victory as part of ranking considerations. " So he needs as many points as possibls to get back into the top 2.

She allowed her office to be the hangout for all the players to bad mouth the school, coaches, town of Scooba, etc. and then she wasn't taken seriously in an authoritative role when tracking down players to get them to class or do work. I understand if kids need someone to talk to (especially the Ronald Ollie kid) but she kind of fed into the game a little too much in my opinion.

Ok but if they hadnt continued to run up the score they would have played in the Mississippi juco state playoffs. That two more games to prove themselves for a spot in the national championship game. But buddy got greedy and the team getting destroyed had enough of it.

I see where you're coming from with the bad mouthing. I think she does a phenomenal job given the circumstances. As far as the authority goes, she's not an authoritative figure. I think she sees the benefit of building trust and relationships and I think that can be incredibly tough, yet incredibly important with these athletes being so all over the place. There's a reason these incredibly talented players went the juco route.
