Lanning vs Park as starting QB moving forward

Not saying that Park shouldn't take over for Lanning. Not saying that Park isn't better than Lanning.

What I am saying is last season (and the season before that) we were talking about Lanning the same way we're talking about Park now.

Until we find our next Rosenfels or Wallace, the backup QB will always be the most popular player on the roster.

So when a QB is stinking the place up... Ur telling me that people like to see the other options. That's crazy talk

Was that what I said? Or do you have a reading comprehension of a typical hok fan?

All I simply said was that we were saying the exact same things about Lanning last year that we're saying about Park this year.

Perhaps Park should get the job. But color me shocked if we're not asking for his backup next year or even at the end of this year if he takes over.

Not everybody was saying that. I certainly wasn't, I wanted to stick with Richardson. However, after the Texas game - where John Walters said "We just Bill Snyder'd Texas" - then I was on board if that was going to be the type of offense we were going to run. We certainly aren't running that offense this year and Lanning is an ill fit.

Park has a very high ceiling and is going to be here three years. It will be an absolute waste to not have him develop and be slinging it next year with the stable of WR's we have. If we wait till his third year we'll spend half the year acclimating him. As I said, that's just a waste of talent to me.

Park looked good but it's tough to say since he was still running most, if not all, of the first team offense against Iowa's second string where as Lanning was playing against Iowa's first unit. Park had way more time in the pocket as well. It's apples to oranges. I need to see them both against the same competition in order to make a definitive judgement.

Btw, was I the only one that was shocked by how accurate CJ is? My God that kid is good.

We were saying that exact thing. The point was your pointing out the obvious. And park may stink it up but we have to try before we know.

I see no issue with understanding that Lanning isn't a Big 12 QB, so we have to move on. He had his chance. He's clearly doesn't have the talent to pass against good defenses. He throws a beautiful deep ball, but in today's game, you have to be able to thread the needle in the middle of the field. He doesn't have it. On to the next one. That's not desparation. It's logic.

Beathard played great. Ferentz made the right choice when he went to him over Rudock after the 2014 season. And Rudock wasn't bad.

We might be at a similar crossroads. Do we continue with Lanning? Or do go with Park? Lanning is not playing as well as he did last year. Not even close. And Park has a higher ceiling. Park had some passes that Lanning could never make. And showed more touch.

I think it's possible that other teams don't respect Lanning's arm which allows them to stop the run. If Park is more of a threat throwing, the running game may open up more.

Lanning has not played well.

Interesting stat that Lanning has 24 carries for 37 yards this season.

Our 3 RB's have a total of 34 carries for 107 yards this season.

Lanning has not done well with the Zone Read. And his passing has been pretty bad.

Call me crazy, but I think it would be to our benefit to have Park play because he can actually throw the ball, then let the RB's run instead of Lanning because they can actually run.

This QB controversy is drawing attention away from a more alarming issue. That defense stinks.

Same old story. The defense doesn't have a chance with the way the offense is playing. But the linebackers are basically nonexistent.

That's not alarming I knew that going in to the season. Once again only the media and CF and few sunshine pampers in the boards were hyping up anything about this team. Everyone should do themselves a big favor and never listen to a word that Jeff Woody says. That's a good start to tuning back in to reality.

I follow him on Twitter and noticed this as well. And of course put Randy Pete and the DMR reporter who got caught trying to get a hooker in that group.

I'm ok with playing Park but I guess I'm much less impressed with his performance than most. 6/15 against basically backups doesn't do much for me.

He had a couple of pretty easy drops and some called back for penalties too. The biggest thing I took was that he looked poised back there.
