Kunc in Big 12 Play

There are still people on here talking about iowa State making the tournament. Iowa state has played itself out of the tournament. This team isn’t winning another game this year. Have you been watching them play lately. No committee is going to put a team in that has lost its last six games and went 4-12 in its last 16 games. They have lost 5 games to teams at the bottom of the conference. This team is a dumpster fire right now.
If I were a moderator and a troll was this stupid and easy to spot I'd put the Insta Ban on them to thin the herd.

I have started to become a big proponent of the thought that Osun is one of, if not perhaps the biggest, disappointments on the season. He has not been at all the player I thought we were getting. I thought we might have a guy with a high motor, board crasher, shot blocker, rim runner etc. The way he plays reminds me of Seattle Supersonics/Orlando Magic version of Patrick Ewing.
Did you guys watch the game on Monday? He was the reason we made the run in the 2nd half. We are at our best when he is in pick and roll and scoring inside.

Jones???? If anything we should have rolled with a small lineup and played King at the 5.
Jones was playing better than those two in the second half. I’m surprised we didn’t go with a smaller lineup like you suggested but it seems TJ did not want Grill playing late.

I love Jaz' game, but if you put someone with average athleticism on him, he is negated on offense.
December 30th- January 17th( which is when Grill first hurt his back). In that period ISU had the 24th most efficient offense in the country. Now, were they likely playing above their heads? Yes, But still even if you drop it down to say 35th or even over 40, That is a good offense to pair with ISU's defense.
After Grill's injury till now, the 124th ranked offense in the country. If look at after the KU game until today, it is the 204th ranked offense.
Grill had a game or two in there he played well but most of the games recently he looks like a shell of the player he was earlier in conference play or in the year.
I do also think bringing Kunc back into the starting lineup and playing a lot of minutes has changed things as well. I think it just messed with chemistry after playing so well without him.

That's a hell of a statistic.

My takeaway on that is that TJ & Co has no answer for fixing the offense with a broken Grill.

At some point, your players are who they are. Most of the guys currently on ISU just don't have the high talent ceiling.

Could simply be that the other players in the Big 12 on average are just plain better than ISU. I mean, we did all know that before the season, though, right? The only ones I thought might have a chance to elevate were probably Osun and Lipsey. Osun because of his physical traits, and Lipsey because he was a pretty highly regarded recruit before injury.

Lipsey has at times looked great but seems to have hit a wall. Osun just never has seemed to improve much from early in the season. I'll admit I don't have any firsthand knowlege of Osun's play at Bonny--my expectations were set purely off what CW and others were saying on Cyclone Fanatic and Iowa Everywhere.

That's kind of the deal really. I don't want to run them down, because I think they are good guys and play hard af. But this isn't exactly the Fab 5 here either. Which of them would be starters for KU or Baylor?

The only thing that really disappoints me is the home losses. Shouldn't lose to bottom half teams at home, full stop. That's 11-6 vs 8-9; how much different is the overall sanity level here if you win those 3 games?

In regards to Osun, I watched him a lot in the NIT last year. He was exciting to watch. Looked like a guy who could just be a big garbage collector, and that's what I thought we were getting.

The Atlantic 10 isn't the Big 12, but it's no slouch either. One of the top tier mid majors IMO.

Idk he helped, sure. He has a better offensive game than Rob, but that is a low bar to cross. I wish he would be more assertive, because the numbers bear out that he should be a much more productive player than what he has been.

Was he the catalyst too then, for WVUs comeback in the last 4 minutes of the game to seal the win? I think he committed 3 fouls in a double bonus situation and missed a must-have bucket by rushing his shot too much.

I'm just saying.

I'm just saying your undervaluing him. When he is engaged, we are at our best. His foul trouble has been one of the biggest issues during this slide. And you won't find a person more frustrated with his fouling away from the hoop. Felt like you guys were piling on and completely forgetting how we got back in the game in the first place.

His play has been statistically almost identical to his time at SBU, but in much fewer minutes, which is probably a result of our defensive style. I will say I was hoping he'd be put under the basket a little more instead of chasing guards on the perimeter.

This is just plain wrong. On Selection Sunday I'm going to come back on here and respond to this post again and tell you just how erroneous you are and were.
If you want to admit you were wrong now, I won't come back on Selection Sunday to tell you how wrong you were. 6 seed at worst, my friend.
