Kunc in Big 12 Play

December 30th- January 17th( which is when Grill first hurt his back). In that period ISU had the 24th most efficient offense in the country. Now, were they likely playing above their heads? Yes, But still even if you drop it down to say 35th or even over 40, That is a good offense to pair with ISU's defense.
After Grill's injury till now, the 124th ranked offense in the country. If look at after the KU game until today, it is the 204th ranked offense.
Grill had a game or two in there he played well but most of the games recently he looks like a shell of the player he was earlier in conference play or in the year.
I do also think bringing Kunc back into the starting lineup and playing a lot of minutes has changed things as well. I think it just messed with chemistry after playing so well without him.

Since his injury, Kunc has not been playing defense at the level he was last year. But Osun was the biggest drag on our team last night. I think if King and Jones were in the last 4 minutes, we would’ve won.

I would agree with others, I think the issue has been the Grill injury and not some chemistry issue due to Jaz returning. It just happened to be that those things occurred at around the same time.

We are an offensively limited team to begin with, and when you take Grill's shooting off the table our problems really start to snowball.

There are still people on here talking about iowa State making the tournament. Iowa state has played itself out of the tournament. This team isn’t winning another game this year. Have you been watching them play lately. No committee is going to put a team in that has lost its last six games and went 4-12 in its last 16 games. They have lost 5 games to teams at the bottom of the conference. This team is a dumpster fire right now.

Joined the day of the Iowa game. Wonder if that’s a coincidence?

End thread with this^^^^^.

The team is losing because they are missing shots, many of them good shots (point blank or wide open). Basketball is really pretty simple. WVU was a perfct example, Osun, Gabe, Holmes all had good looks at the end and missed. WVU made FTs.

True. I think I am just trying to come up with some excuse in my mind why we have gotten so bad?! Hopefully we pull it together just in time for Tournament play and forget all about this.
He came back when we hit the back half of the conference schedule basically. The teams had seen us and saw what worked and we don't change things, then throw in that the big 12 has many solid coaches and they watched film and shut us down and broke our defense. Same thing happened last year.

He’s been our best (sometimes only) 3 point shooter and close to best rebounder since he came back. Going out on a limb that the premise of this thread is insane.

This is just plain wrong. On Selection Sunday I'm going to come back on here and respond to this post again and tell you just how erroneous you are and were.

Jones???? If anything we should have rolled with a small lineup and played King at the 5.

I have started to become a big proponent of the thought that Osun is one of, if not perhaps the biggest, disappointments on the season. He has not been at all the player I thought we were getting. I thought we might have a guy with a high motor, board crasher, shot blocker, rim runner etc. The way he plays reminds me of Seattle Supersonics/Orlando Magic version of Patrick Ewing.

We probably lose against TCU w/o him.
Unfortunately he's one of our smarter defenders, but other than the 4 three pt. game, he sure has had a chance to hit some wide open 3's for us and has not. Been disappointed with his offensive output. I think he was a better player last season, imo. He even penetrated the lane some.

Those two Osun silly pushing fouls close together when the game was close were.....frustrating.

This is fair. Jaz is a smart player but he has to knock down some shots. A lot of the looks Gabe and Caleb get for example are difficult ones running off screens. That is not the case for Jaz - almost every three he takes is a wide open set shot. We need that to go down at the 39% clip it was last year. Right now, he's shooting closer to 20% on those.
