KState pregame thread

The LT from Ohio State Fitzgerald had a “medical event” earlier in camp and apparently is not on the depth chart. Hope the kid is OK.

They will be starting r/s Junior John Pastore at LT. making his first ever NCAA start.

Pay attention to that!
Gunner Maldonado also nowhere to be seen on their depth chart, so that must be injury related. I imagine he figured to be a big part of their secondary. So they'll have VJ Payne who's a good player at safety (honorable mention all big-12 last year) and then a bunch of inexperience. Two corners who have zero starts, a couple of safeties listed as OR with zero starts and another safety transferring up from D-II.

Rocco and the WRs/TEs are going to have some opportunities!

Exactly.

EDIT:

So it will be a bunch of inexperienced WR’s covered by a bunch of inexperienced CB’s

This should be fun!

No mention of our depleted linebacker group last year.
We are all over it.

They are not ….except talking about how our run defense last season was near the bottom of the Big 12 and 70 something overall.

According to what I’ve seen and heard, K State will dominate this game on the ground with a Three Headed Monster, on the slow field and possibly muck in Ireland.

We are doomed!!!

Yep everyone picking KSU, the only ISU picks think they win by some gimmick. KSU returns their entire oline I guess.
Truthfully they do not. Had a couple transfers. And their stud LT is out for Dublin and probably other games as well

Yep. And depleted isn’t a strong enough word.
I was sketching out the ‘25 LB corps, and was shocked at what I came up with. And this doesn’t even include Jack Sadowsky and Jacob Ellis, who were also hurt, and Portalked out..

Limited to special teams returning from injury, apparently now retired from football.

Caleb Bacon 6’4” 240 RSr
Missed the season.

Zachary Lovett 6’2” 250 RSr
Hurt last year.

Will McLaughlin 6’4” 240 RJr
Also hurt. Came back for Bowl.

Carson Willich 6’1” 225 RJr
Hurt, too. Sense a theme?

Kooper Ebel 6’4” 235 Jr
Played with a shoulder injury.

John Klosterman 5’11” 230 RJr
Also got hurt in ‘24.

Cael Brezina 6’3” 235 Soph
Looked good before he (cough) got hurt.

Did I miss anyone? Did Barnes get hurt?

Any common folk who can't go across the pond: what are you making for your home tailgates for the game? Looking for something with an Irish flavor to cook up Saturday AM.
