Klieman to resign?

The good news for K-state is that Klein knows the school well (playing and coaching there), got an outside perspective from the last couple years at A&M, and has been successful as an OC. The bad news is that he has no head coach experience, is in his mid 30s, and doesn't appear to be coming into the best situation at K-state (things seemed to be a bit of a mess behind the scenes this year).

Some of these guys are just wired that they feel compelled to coach. Belichick did not need to the UNC job, his resume in the NFL is second to none, but he just can't stay away.

Yeah totally agree. Some are like me. Make your mark, get enough money and bail. Coaches get paid a lot but they also probably have a really stressful job. Look at some of the coaches who won a national title and were fired a couple years later or even made the playoffs and were fired a year later. You don't get down years. Franklin at Penn State, Chizik at Auburn, The LSU coach who spoke perfect Cajun. Can't remember his name right now. It's a relentless job. Even worse these days.

That was Ed Orgeron who is trying to get back in the game. He has his name in the ring for Tulane and even told local media in New Orleans that he would be open to joining Lane Kiffin's staff at LSU.

And it's not just the football that's stress.

You're on call 24 hours a day for over 100 18-23 year old kids that are figuring out life on their own and that's before we get to recruiting and babysitting 16 and 17 year olds to make sure they don't jump at the next shiny thing.

I can't imagine living that life.

Shades of TJ on the basketball side honestly.

TJ had five years of head coaching experience before doing it at ISU, three years at SDSU and two years at UNLV.

Exactly. Coach Mac wanted me to get into coaching and I thought about it. But ultimately no thanks, no time to do anything other than football with your life.

I wonder what happens to KSU recruiting when that announcement comes on signing day. LOL. Maybe they were up front about it, but I doubt it, as it would have leaked.

Heard on the radio a few minutes ago that K State players voted to NOT accept any bowl bid. Doesn't that hurt the conference money collection?

Also, I know bowls have lost their luster, and the program is in a tough spot with Klieman resigning. But players voting down a bowl bid (read: not wanting to play another game) isn’t a good sign.

Well they flipped one of our top recruits so it couldn’t have hurt them too badly….

Top is a stretch. He wanted to play Wr we wanted him at safety anyway
Not a fan of the put on one shirt/hat/etc. of one team then taking it off and putting on another. You want to sign with a team, just go ahead and do it. No reason to be an ass to the other team(s). I feel that way regardless of whether ISU's is the last logo worn or not.

Yes, I know they are just kids. I also know they have parents sitting right there smiling while they do it. If they get wind their kid is going to do that, they should be telling them that isn't how you were raised, knock it off.

Show a little character.

It would be really odd to see a mass exodus from K State. Klein has only been gone two years. He was the lead recruiter for Avery Johnson, likely recruited several other players as well.
