Most likely it was the $$, and there's nothing wrong with that.
But hey, NIL is great, right? Sorry, had to do it. IMO NIL as "pay to play" sucks.
Michigan isn't paying ****. Supposedly the staff is vehemently opposed to a pay for play structure and the fanbase is largely pissed off that they are able to hold it back as they hoped that NIL was the way they could legally compete. The paupers at Michigan couldn't come up with enough cash as well?
Outside of Campbell and a certain 34-17 *** whooping Oregon's football program is superior to ours in all ways. Blaming NIL on every recruit we lose to a more prestigious program is flat silly and is especially ridiculous when the kid is a from a state that shares a border with Oregon.
Oregon state doesn't have Nike.Honestly, blaming the money aspect seems silly when you're going up against a program like Oregon. If he had picked Oregon State, then we should probably have that discussion.
I find it intriguing that you actually mention Nike, and yet resolutely refuse to acknowledge Phil Knight’s NIL money.Surely it can't be the relative proximity, Nike, elite branding or the fact they are a perennial Top 25 team. Nope. It was the $.
I don't blame losing every recruit on NIL. Just recruits that were barely being recruited by a school, wasn't even considering them 1-2 weeks ago, then all of a sudden commit there. The paupers at Michigan couldn't come up with enough cash as well?

of course they did. We are going to see more and more of this. And we are going to see schools go after some of our players that have proven themselves at this level.Oregon with the late money helps get them back in.
I don't think that is a fair statement. NIL in the real world is not playing out how it was originally designed. When you talk about decades, yes, there have been a few schools that have been paying players for a long time. For example Ohio State and Auburn. But there are other schools that didn't do that, like Texas and Michigan. Even when the SWC was cheating like crazy, Texas wasn't one of them. With NIL, it is basically a legal way to pay over the table and way more schools are participating at a high level that were not involved like that before. In no way is the payment advantage to players the same as it was. In short, the payment aspect is way more amplified now than in the past.Been blaming others' deeper pockets for a couple decades, why stop now.

My personal opinion is that the Michigan fanbase overestimates it's willingness to donate as I feel they are much more well adjusted folks than the SEC and OSU and they aren't going to frivolously spend money on college football players. There's also the principled stand there by the administration which you can either admire or criticize fairly.

Texas wasnt cheating in the SWC. What rock did you just crawl out from under. Google Eric Dickerson and see what the SWC was all about.I don't think that is a fair statement. He played for SMU. I was an avid SWC follower/fan growing up. I was a huge Texas fan and my uncle was good friends with Texas coach Fred Akers. Texas wasn't cheating. Pretty much everyone else the league was.Texas wasnt cheating in the SWC. What rock did you just crawl out from under. Google Eric Dickerson and see what the SWC was all about.
Michigan actually isn’t putting up much NIL money which is also why their class this year isn’t near what it was the prior yearsThe paupers at Michigan couldn't come up with enough cash as well?

Happened with our top 2-3 guys last year too. Except to Oklahoma and maybe Kentucky?Oregon looks like the favorite for Purchase, too. It’s going to suck losing our second and third highest rated recruits to Oregon.
Do they have a bridge?Outside of Campbell and a certain 34-17 *** whooping Oregon's football program is superior to ours in all ways.
Curious as to why your fandom dissipated. He played for SMU. I was an avid SWC follower/fan growing up. I was a huge Texas fan and my uncle was good friends with Texas coach Fred Akers. Texas wasn't cheating. Pretty much everyone else the league was.
With that said, I don't like Texas anymore. Used to love them from 1976 all they way to about 2007 and then my fandom started to dissipate.
