Curious as to why your fandom dissipated.
I'm ISU first. I was way more of a Texas fan until I moved to Des Moines in 1991 and started rooting for ISU as the local team. Started going to ISU games in 1992, got season tickets in 1993. It was never a conflict of interest when they were not in the same league, but after Texas in the league for a few years, I tended to favor the underdog school. But the thing that really soured me on Texas was not only the Longhorn Network destabilizing the Big 12, but subscribing to Inside 40 Acres Premium board for 22 years. The arrogance of their fans and they were so disrespectful to ISU. There were fans who have actually been to Ames and were complimentary of our game day environment but most them viewed us as pure garbage.

Happened with our top 2-3 guys last year too. Except to Oklahoma and maybe Kentucky?

Any one guy is never a killer, but the difference between being “good” and winning conference championships is landing these guys each recruiting cycle.
By “these guys” I mean our top rated targets that flip at the last minute.

Our margin for error is much smaller than the blue bloods
You are absolutely correct. Land a guy or two like Purchase and Sadiq in each class and it’s the absolute difference maker. We needed this one and it’s rough.

Did not want. We were set at TE anyways.

Kidding. The above seemed like the typical excuse Hawk fans and other fan bases comment when they lose a guy. Congrats to Sadiq on his commitment and appreciate that he considered ISU.
TE isn't a position I'm overly concerned with.

Could use a couple more DL and OL for this class.

What’s the point of the We Will Collective if this is just going to keep happening in basketball and football?
We Will Collective, as I understand it, is going to provide funds (through community service work) to keep the proven players like Tyrese Hunter and Isheem Young.

Sorry bud, but that’s such a hok way of thinking. That’s like after we lose a football game, asking what’s the point of having a football team if we’re just going to get beat anyway?

We’re going to lose a recruit to another school- it’s going to happen again. However, it doesn’t mean we should just stop giving our best effort. I think the better question from our fans is, ‘ok, we lost this guy, how can I give to The Collective to make sure this doesn’t happen with the next recruit we want’. So, if you can, send some money to The Collective today- even if it’s just $20. Be part of the solution, don’t just bury your head and give up.

Come on......now "we will" is starting to sound like a United Way commercial. Or the "just $.19 a day will save an animal" spot on late night cable TV.

He played for SMU. I was an avid SWC follower/fan growing up. I was a huge Texas fan and my uncle was good friends with Texas coach Fred Akers. Texas wasn't cheating. Pretty much everyone else the league was.

With that said, I don't like Texas anymore. Used to love them from 1976 all they way to about 2007 and then my fandom started to dissipate.
"Everybody else in the league was cheating but not my team."
