Confused who they could possibly contend is the better team this yr?
I’ve said it before Chiefs are in that Patriots progression where they look beatable they just don’t end up losing though.

I don't think the Chiefs have the best talent in the league, and I have been a Chief's fan for over 50 years. We have Mahomes and Reid, they are difference between the Chiefs and the other teams in the league. The Chiefs do not beat themselves, repeatedly turning over the ball. Look at our roster, we have struggled all year protecting Mahomes, we have a all pro guard playing tackle, because our guys out their suck. We lost our best receiver Rice, in the 2nd game. Our running backs scare no one, Kelsey had a below Kelsey type of season. Just where it the talent on that side of the ball, its Mahomes and a few other places.
The Chiefs have the best kicker in the league and a very good punter. We have a very good defense, but the back end has been up and down, we lead the league in no major category, on that side of the ball. We just win, its not pretty, they play close games and let the other team beat themselves and give them an opportunity and when they get it we make them pay.
Oh I was talking best team in the league, not Mel Kiper eval.
Line up all the more talented teams. Better yet, just go to Cancun and see em for yourself.
Take Mahomes and Reid off the Chiefs and we are struggling to make the playoff. Spags is great also, but the Chiefs have a generational talent at the hardest position to play in sports. Its why we keep winning.
Take Brady and Bill off the Pats and they don’t win a ring let alone a dynasty.
This is an odd hill to try to defend.
The Chiefs basically have an elite defense, in part thanks to really smart talent acquisition and a genius DC. Spags is going to be a first-ballot gold jacket.
And they have Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, probably the best HC in a generation and the best QB in the league. Add in a generational TE and maybe the best DL in the league.
The Chiefs are the best TEAM in the league, however any sane person chooses to define it.

I would put Brady and Mahomes in the same category, they make everyone around them better and then both know how to win. The Pats were in the same place the Chiefs are now, its called greatness and as a long time Chiefs fan, I am going to enjoy the moment, because we all know its not going to last forever. Look at the Pats now.
Are you trying to say Chiefs don’t have the most dynamic talent at every position, therefore they aren’t the best team in the league?
All of this confusion is stemming from you saying they’re not the best team. Despite everyone and yourself citing why they’re the best team.
Were the Giants a better team than the Pats when they defeated them in the Super Bowl the year the Pats were undefeated on the season? You seem to be saying that the winning team is always the most talented because they won the game.
What I am saying is the Chiefs do not have the best roster in the league, what they do have is the best player at the most important position, and the best head coach that takes advantage of that talent. The Chiefs are winning for a variety of reasons, but no, they are not the overall most talented team in the league. I would say the Eagles are the better team talent wise, just like the 49ers were last season, but the Chiefs still won the games. Why, because of Mahomes and Reid.
- You originally argued they’re not the best. Who’s “better” than the Chiefs this year?
- The team that wins an individual matchup is not always the better team. Which is why they play an 18 week season and playoff tournament.
- The QB, HC, OC, DC staff and org matter when determining which is the best team or franchise.
- Unless you’re only looking at raw potential on paper.
Viking looked great. Until they didn’t.
Baltimore and Buffalo looked like they have for the past few years. Lost to KC.
I’d say eagles this year have a chance to say, “we’re the best team” if they beat KC. With #1 defense and #8 offense.
The most talented roster does not equal the best team. That's the mistake in argument you are making.
The Eagles absolutely have the type of roster construction that will give them a chance to beat the Chiefs, no question.
It will probably come down to: Spags vs Hurts.
Eagles are good everywhere. About as complete as roster as you can have in NFL
I think Spags vs Barkley may be the bigger matchup.
Add to it Buffalo felt like they were *trying to play how Eagles do without actually having the formula to pull it off.
I agree that's matchup A, but I expect the defense is still going to put the Eagles into obvious passing downs several times. This is where the game will be won or lost.
If the Chiefs cannot create those situations, it will be a long night for the Chiefs. But they have the front seven that I believe should hold up well enough to complete job one.
I stated the Chiefs do not have the most talented roster, they don't, they just win. I also said they have the best player at the most important position in Mahomes and a HOF coach in Reid. Those two are what seperates them from the Lions, Vikings, Ravens or Buffalo. The Chiefs are one of the teams that are greater than the individual pieces, Mahomes and Reid just make it work.
It doesn't tell a complete picture of the games by reducing them to the final score. A handful of those were KC up by 2 scores and a late score by the other team tightened things up. A couple were also games where KC led wire to wire and the other team was never in possession of the ball with a chance to take the lead. All haters will see is that stat and assume they are just lucky. It also doesn't help when sports writers have gotten bored covering the Chiefs when they don't blow people out and put up gaudy numbers and parrot that same "lucky" mantra.
