NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

With no depth at receiver this year and he still hasn't even caught a pass this is a good point why he is still even on the roster. It seems like having him just as a warm body is a waste of a roster spot.
Because he knows the offense, is the right spots and blocks and is better than the practice squad guys. They didn't start with no depth. Moore was slotted to be basically the last guy at WR.

Special teams guys exist for a reason. Can't always have starters out there on those plays. His punt returns were fine, but he's mainly still here as he is on a cheap rookie deal on a team with a top heavy QB contract that still needs to have depth at the WR position. He's been a disappointment for sure, but it feels like he was supposed to be the Hardman replacement after the 2022 season, but Hardman ended up being the Hardman replacement after they reacquired him mid-season last year..

He may block well but he providing zero production and you can see Mahomes does not trust him. The other day, throw him a nice pass and he drops it, overturned on review. If they haven't figured it out in his 2nd year, he is not going to figure it out. Does not say much for the guys on the practice squad that they cannot beat him out.

Mahomes contract is not the problem, not even close to being the highest paid QB in the league.

That was not a nice pass. It was low, away, and maybe behind Moore as the only clip I can find at the moment does not show where the route was going and it looks he had to stretch back for it. Even had he caught it, he's on the ground with no extra yards. Yes, it would have been a 1st down, I think, but Mahomes did him no favors. As soon as you start trying to catch while falling, the ground, his knees, his body and potentially defenders all become new variables in the catch.

Look Moore is not a great or even good receiver, but there has been plenty of times where the pass is just not on target to him or he has to make some sliding catch because the throw is low. In fact, Mahomes currently has the worst on target percentage of his career this season, so some of the blame has to fall to him. And without us knowing play call it's hard to judge it correctly. It looked like a bailout throw on play that was breaking down fast.

It would have been a first down, and he had it and dropped it before he hit the ground. Its the type of pass a quality receiver catches 9 out 10 times and Moore doesn't. The guy is an NFL player, you can see that Mahomes does not trust him because Moore has done nothing to show that he can be trusted. He must be great on special teams or something, because he sucks as a receiver.

Yeah he dropped a pass. But again, he is an end of the bench guy on a cheap contract. I am not sure what you are expecting from him.

I’m at the game today and there is a guy dressed like reservoir dogs with a sign that says “He shot my buccan’eer off” which is probably the best outfit/sign combo of all time

I think I saw the chiefs have only been 9-0 two more times and never was 10-0. Next week at Buffalo will be difficult, especially with how the offense has played lately. The defense and special teams are mostly responsible for the undefeated season, coming up huge at end of games.

One of those years was in 2003, and I was at the game in Cincinnati when the Chiefs lost their first game to drop to (9-1) after being on the cover of S.I. lol. I think Jon Kitna was the QB for the Bengals that day.

Also, I do have to say, I've been on record saying that you switch Baker/Mahomes and their careers don't look *that* much different, but after seeing Bo Nix (and others) scramble around yesterday trying to make things happen, Mahomes just operates at a different pace.

He's not faster, or quicker, but his movements are economical and always seem to be opening up action down field. For as much as he slowly plods around with his awkward hips/gate, he evades direct blows, and makes teams pay by looking downfield in a way that's unrivaled.

He's evolved from a young rocket arm (which he still has) to the crafty veteran that somehow makes it work even though it looks like it shouldn't. again and again and again.

I live in KC, Detroit was my team growing up, and Purdy is w/ 49ers so I'm very happy watching Chiefs, Lions and 'ers week after week and have been a bit of a Mahomes hater.

Just wanted to give very earned propers to 15. Very fun season.

I wouldn't trade him for the anything best player in league when you consider importance of qb. I've never seen him miss more throws than this year though. Going downfield he's missed quite a bit. Hoping he gets more crisp as he gets more continuity with all the new wire receivers and as team gets healthier

I think he really tries to keep INT's at a minimum, and doesn't throw as much into tight windows as he used to. That hasn't worked as well in the last year+. Exception to that is Kelce and hopefully D-Hop going forward. Combined with the shaky tackle positions, has caused him to get happy feet quickly.

He is still the best QB in the league, but this "down" almost 2 years would be the envy of about any QB. Dude is nails when it matters
