NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Kind of crazy that it wasn't too long ago the discussion was about how bad the secondary and LB positions were when KC could not stop anyone and now our biggest debates are what to do with some positions on the offensive side of the ball. Goes to show just how well they have drafted and made calculated moves to vastly improve what used to be a terrible defense when the Chiefs used to have to be the ones with the ball last because neither side punted much and they played games where all they could do was hope they could outscore the other team in a shootout.

Forgot about Fortson. But some of these guys are cutable if they decide they like someone in the draft. I am guessing they have expected more out of Gray than what he has done. Fortson is always injured.
I think Gray has done alright in the role he is given. I think he was drafted to be the Kelce heir. But Kelce hasn't aged the last five years.

Agree on Fortson. Kind of surprised we tendered him.

This. Fortson is a WR playing TE, which is fine. But not an every down TE. Gray is clearly a #2 TE. Bell? Blocking TE and short yardage QB now that KC will probably not have a FB on the roster.

LaPorta is an absolute perfect fit for KC, especially with this roster and Kelce's age, and if they can get him in 3rd or 4th.

Sorry, if the best WR in the draft somehow falls to #31 and you take Will there over him, Veach gonna get booed off the stage.

Not sure on the other three though. Tempting to take an OT, but I'm not very high on Harrison. Will seemed to have his way with him.

Who is the best WR in the draft?

At pick #31 the Chiefs have to be looking at the best player on the board at either rush end or WR. Those are the two biggest needs for the team, they have two 4th round picks, I would like to see them use them both to trade up in the 2nd round plus their 2nd round pick to get the best WR or Edge rusher that they did not get in the first round.

They need a tackle also.

I think the last 2 WR we have taken in the 1st round were Sylvester Morris and Jonathan Baldwin. Morris was decent but got hurt and I don't know what happened to Baldwin.

Baldwin got hurt in a fight in camp with Thomas Jones his rookie year. Got traded to the 49ers 2 years later for AJ Jenkins and was out of the league a year after that. Jenkins, a first round pick by the 49ers in 2012 was out of the league by 2015.

I wouldn't be surprised if KC uses some of their extra picks to trade up for someone they have their eye on that is still available in that 20-30 range like they did last year to draft McDuffie. A lot will depend on who maybe falls a few spots that they didn't expect to where they can move up 5-10 picks and get them. They have extra picks in the 4th 6th and 7th rounds where they can maybe package something up and still keep their 2nd or 3rd rounder too or just swap some picks as part of the package.

It's definitely a draft the best available player regardless of position where they are currently drafting. DE OT and WR are the 3 obvious positions they need to add some players at.

I continue to tell myself the Chiefs will be trading up in this year's draft to select a Left Tackle if one falls a bit.

I also read weeks ago that the Chiefs could send a late pick to the Bucs for Mike Evans. I continue to hold out hope for that. I think he'd be easier and more affordable to get than DeAndre Hopkins.

Exactly. Without doing a deep dive into their roster - I tend to think have 3-4 too many draft picks this year. Not enough roster space to keep everyone.

The offensive tackle position worries me a lot less than WR and rush end. This draft does not look to have any great HOF type tackle, and the Chiefs will be drafting so late in the round that I doubt they could move up enough to get one if he was there. Go get the WR and the rush end in the first couple of rounds then try to find OL depth in the 3rd or 4th rounds.
