rained .8" tonight, watering might be the least of their worries. 90degree parking can be a pain in the arse for all bigger SUV's or for any pickup larger then a standard cab. Try packing out in the short distance.

About 7:50 pm on the video, kybos are blowing across the parking lot.Very big line of thunderstorms will pass over Ames tonight. They may get a huge amount of rain. Probably not what Jaime wants to see 36 hours before the grass lots open for the season's first tailgate. I'm guessing those lots can take a lot of rain, though, since the last few weeks have been so dry.
Not JTS, but is this really how bad the Hilton walkways have become? Yikes.

About a half inch in West Ames - rained hard but didn't last a long time. Grass lots won't be an issue.Very big line of thunderstorms will pass over Ames tonight. They may get a huge amount of rain. Not at all. I was mowing in West Ames when it came in and the ground was like concrete so some will run off but there is also plenty of room for the rest of the rain overnightAbout a half inch in West Ames - rained hard but didn't last a long time. Grass lots won't be an issue.

I believe that is a standard design aspect now days to encourage absorption and slow the runoff/flash flooding risk.Quick question. Why do they seem to be leaving the level of the drainage ditches lower than the culverts? Isn’t the standing water a mosquito breeding ground?
At one point I actually found myself idly wondering if they could work the elevated walkways into the CyTown design. That sucks... I think those walkways are really cool, mid century 70s vibes. Hopefully they fix them, I guess they need to otherwise there won't be an entrance on that side. I want more elevated walkways.
Not surprising that any concrete that has been in use for over 50 years would need some work. An interesting temporary fix, though. That sucks... Elevated walkways likely do all those things you suggest, but I assume they are way more expensive to construct and maintain than ground sidewalks. Think of all the elevated walkways that originally were part of the Iowa State Center. Most are gone.In the first renderings they had some interesting design choices including elevated walkways. Wish they were still in the design, whatever it ends up being. Not particularly useful but I still want them lol. For some reason elevated walkways gives me utopian society without cars vibes.

I believe the long term plans include an enclosed skywalk between Hilton, Scheman, the proposed hotel, and Stephens. They're putting a club space for basketball games in Scheman to open Johnny's up a bit more. That sucks... I think those walkways are really cool, mid century 70s vibes.
