On a quick scroll through I think I counted three or four trucks dumping the “amended” soil west of the stadium this morning. Looks like they’re really getting to the finishing stages. 01C71586-28DF-48F8-BCCB-1399B7E3F81D.jpeg

Is that mulch that’s being loaded and dropped on maybe landscape cloth put down yesterday between the grass and walkway at the top of the NW hill?

Can't really tell (It looks awfully dark for mulch). It would make sense though as a border. Visual and textural difference for walking (like the warning track in baseball), will take overflow foot traffic better than grass, allows for some drainage off the walkway, and is cheap and easy to replace/repair/replenish between games if need be.

I hope they aren’t paying somebody to do that. I bet there’s about a thousand of us that would do it for free. Hell, probably PAY to do it!
Forest Gump mows for free... but he did go to Alabama. Awe heck, let's give him a call!

with as much hype as our groundcrew gets for making the field look great, i'd imagine they mow the hillsides lol

It looks like there are black borders now on each of the non-concrete sections in the plaza.

I got home and wanted to see what they’d done there, so I rewound—and caught them putting topsoil on top of the liner they laid down next to the concourse walkway yesterday.

As I recall, that liner was on top of topsoil on top of gravel.

Around the 14:30 mark, for those interested.

Where did everyone go? We can’t let this thread die now! It’s become a part of my life
The rain yesterday pretty much slowed things down. I will say that I’m still trying to figure out what they set at the section of the east/west walkway—where they put the gravel down Thursday. Not barricades?

At least Ames (and Des Moines) finally got some saturating rain.

As much attention as the hillsides have gotten, I'm looking forward to all the expert commentary when the resod the field (Isn't that scheduled for after this yr?)
