Is this rocket science?
Let me rephrase.... have any of the concerns about fans harassing the players, dumping drinks/food on them, kids falling, etc been happening?Because they’re in the process of building the new one at this exact moment, and we’re discussing the potential advantages and disadvantages—pending discovering which choice will actually be implemented.

Let me rephrase. It’s not “concerns”, it’s conjecture.Let me rephrase.... have any of the concerns about fans harassing the players, dumping drinks/food on them, kids falling, etc been happening?
Hopefully not. Time will tell. If I'm the ISU athletic dept, my biggest liability concern would be someone climbing the fence and falling down into the tunnel. Most fans will be good.... it's the 2 or 3 unruly drunks that might do something stupid.Let me rephrase.... have any of the concerns about fans harassing the players, dumping drinks/food on them, kids falling, etc been happening?

I would really hope that the drunks would not be in the kids section. Sounds like you're making a big deal about an incredibly unlikely scenario that has not been an issue prior to this.Hopefully not. Time will tell. This. I took little JM to the WV game last year. We were on the opposite side of the tunnel as the players started to walk through the tunnel to JTS. This was by far one of his highlights to see the players up close (especially Brock). This was especially nice given the limited capacity so he was clinging right to black fence yelling. I know its a small thing but he would be pretty disappointed if the tunnel doesn't allow that anymore next fall because I am guessing he will be demanding that we walk over and do that again. And I absolutely don't blame him, as a kid I would of thought the same thing.
At West Virginia there is a step to the field right off the visitor's section and the visiting team enters and exits the field at that point. One time a little kid stood at the base of that step giving high fives as the players came out. One player stopped and had his picture taken with the kid. A really cool moment.I took my 6 year old son over to the the Bergstrom a few years back and he got to high five the players and coaches as they came off the field before the game and as they were running back out. It was really cool and I'm glad I got to experience that with him. The players truly seem to enjoy it too. It still shocks me how few people took advantage of that opportunity when it was there.
The pause in tunnel work is bugging me more than it should. Was hoping they’d have those forms poured by now.
Just like KU.
Spacers maybe? To keep them secure and in the proper place from shifting? Is that foam they are putting at the base of the walkway supports? Is that for vibration? Any info is greatly appreciated!
Recliners at field level would not likely have a very good view of the action unless there are no obstructions. But I bet they could be quite comfy in a new club section between the 40s.
Agree. Lots of folks likely miss that part of pregame if they are trying to get in a few extra minutes of tailgating.I took my 6 year old son over to the the Bergstrom a few years back and he got to high five the players and coaches as they came off the field before the game and as they were running back out. I thought the same. The effects of winter's expansion and contraction will be minimized without dirt and moisture around the supports. Most likely. Just a light weight replacement for fill dirt. Helps to put less stress on the wall. Also won't settle so hopefully the walkway doesn't crack or become as uneven.
