Sukup cost $60 million. I’m not aware of the performance center being scaled back because of a lack of funds. We just got a two fully funded projects before they actually were announced.

The money for this current project is almost exclusively outside of the stadium.

I just don’t get this idea that we are hurting for money as bad as some suggest. Covid has hurt financials but I feel about as good as I did before Covid on the money side because we seem to keep getting the big donations.

Again I’m talking within 10 years. 10 years ago we weren’t sure if we’d be in a power conference. A lot happens in 10 years.
Performance Center was not scaled back- the NEZ work was. Who are those large donations that you speak of coming from?

I don’t know who actually gives those donations. I assume it’s people like the Sukups.

Maybe the NEZ work was scaled back because something is closer than I expect. Either way I think something happens in the future on that end. Based on the work that’s been done over the last 20 years expecting it within 10 years seems reasonable. Is it imminent probably not but it is probably in the not to distant future. It’s not exactly a bold claim or anything.

I think the changes that are being made are going to be far more dramatic in person than most people realize. It's not a full bowling in of the north end zone, it's not fixing many of the issues people have pointed out in this thread, but it will be a dramatic improvement that is being undervalued by many at this point, in my opinion.

No way- Jamie loves himself some hillsides. You will get beer in the stadium before Jamie is getting rid of them. He called them "iconic" one time.

We simply do not have the money to destroy a 25 year old building that we have poured millions into for upgrades- including this year. Then the cost of a new building? I mean, I would love to see a new NEZ as much as the next guy, I hate the Jacobson Bldg. That is not something I will likely see done in my lifetime. It certainly won't be done on JP's watch
Jamie may have used the word “iconic”, but he’s also a CPA accustomed to dealing with the realities of economics. And keeping an athletic department thriving.

If the demand for seating continues to expand, he’ll do what he thinks is best.

I think it's going to look killer this fall. The pedestrian bridge next year will only make me salivate more.

There are updates to the Jacobson going on now. NCC offices going into the old Heartland Hall, visitors/officials/cheer squad locker rooms going into the basement, a new north entryway with ticket offices. That building is going nowhere any time soon. IMO the next stage after the current work and pedestrian bridge is going to be Hilton and the P&L district. After that, I would guess they look at the press box. Or maybe a small arena for wresting/VB south of the Alumni Center. Maybe if the new TV contracts are huge, they look at a new BB practice facility attached to Hilton and move VB and Wresting out to west Ames. Either way, I would think that replacing the Jacobson would be WAY down the list.
A CPA like Jamie tends to separate things into “revenue producing” and “non revenue producing”.

Everything you listed above is the latter. Expanding either capacity at JTS or luxury boxes/amenities is distinctly in that other category...and helps pay for your list.

No undervaluing.

Just greedy for more.

Kinda like the team’s ‘20 season. I’ve been a Cyclone for a very long time, and I want that Big XII Championship and Playoff berth!

Exactly, for so many years ISU fans have been told we are sister of the poor. Now that we have seen a major revenue uptick due to conference affiliation, coupled with an explosion of new alumni, donor and fan support, we're allowed to dream a little bit!

I'm guessing you might be wondering where their equipment truck is going to go since those were normally backed up to the Olson building on the east side.

I was wondering the same thing.
From this view of the renderings on Cyclones.com, you can see flat area in the east ramp down to the field. I'm guessing that's where the visitor equipment truck will park, and I assume the extended concourse will be high enough for a semi truck and trailer to pull under.

That actually makes the current walls and footings around the towers makes sense. Thanks!

I wonder if I could land a dirt clod or coke bottle on top of the ToE bus from the top of the hill

Just curious. Does anyone happen to have the square footage of the Performance Center and the Jacobsen Buildings? No idea where to look. I’m guessing bother were a step up from the Olsen Building.
