John Walters' successor

One thing is for certain. When the Godfather decides to hang up his mic, Iowa State does not have to look far to find his successor. Brent Blum did an incredible job handling the play by play for the Maui tournament. After listening to him call the three games, it's hard to believe play by play isn't his full time job. I LOVE listening to John, but it's great to know that whenever he decides to retire, we've got an outstanding replacement waiting in the wings.

Blum has also gotten a lot more comfortable and confident on the mic.

Blum is incredibly articulate and has no problems keeping up with the fast pace. He also shows just the right amount of enthusiasm. I'm so impressed.

Man Pete Taylor was legend. You could tell within 3 words how we were doing if you tuned in and had no idea what was going on.

John was the best fit.... Loved him on the TV calls with Gary Thompson back before Pete passed away.

I thought it was kind of insinuated at one time that that was why Blum went ahead and took the we will job because he was told he would replace Walters once he retired but maybe I imagined that. I mean he's the first call as a backup for a reason right?

Is it weird at all that we have the collective CEO calling a game? I'd doubt that any other collective leader also is an announcer.
