John Meeks reconsidering Nebraska commitment

Very true for the athlete and I'm sure that is a huge factor in recruiting. But irrelevent for the NCAA scholarship limits.
It makes living in a wrestling rich state all the more important. It also makes being the top dog in that state necessary, which we are not anymore.

Keith Murphy just reported that John is gonna go to ISU now.... proud of my Roughriders & Cyclones... Way to go John!

Re: John Meeks committs to Iowa State Cyclones

Three-time Iowa high school wrestling champion John Meeks has decided to change his college commitment from Nebraska to Iowa State.
Meeks, of Des Moines Roosevelt, released this statement:

“First off I would like to say that I have been in discussion with some close friends and family members, they have come along side of me to help me make some important decisions as it relates to which school that will attend.

“As you know I had made a verbal to the University of Nebraska and I was looking forward to wrestling under Coach Mark Manning and also being able to wrestle along side my brother Blake, Blake decided to pursue some life long dreams and will transfer to N C School of the Arts for which I as well as our whole family is supporting him in his decision.

“After a lot of discussion I have decided to stay close to home where I have strong family support and a team of trainers that I am close to.

“I will be attending Iowa State University under Coach Jackson.

“I am making this statement at this time and will not be making any others, I am putting all of my focus and efforts on preparing for National Duals and a national titleâ€￾ in Fargo, N.D.

Meeks announced in March that he would follow his brother, Blake, to Lincoln.

Blake Meeks, who was 0-2 in his freshman season at Nebraska, will transfer to North Carolina School of the Arts, meaning John Meeks no longer would have be able to wrestle on the same team as his older brother.

That, his father Keith told the Des Moines Register two weeks ago, caused people to "run off at the edges" with speculation that John would change his mind.

"All John is doing is talking about his options with people he's close with," Keith Meeks said on May 24. "It's just a discussion. He has not de-committed. He really wanted to wrestle with his brother, so it is a possibility he may not go."

John Meeks is ranked fifth nationally at 130 pounds by HighSchoolWrestling.net.

Meeks is 123-0 in three high school seasons. He and Southeast Polk's Cory Clark will attempt to finish their high school careers undefeated.

Certainly going to boost the quality of the wrestling in the ISU room. Great news!

Interesting news tonight about Meeks. I won't give my source but we should be surprised if he ends up in Ames. He hasn't signed anything. He has owned Finch but it doesn't matter. I certainly hope he ends up as a a Cyclone. He's a great young man and an awesome wrestler. Attack me if I'm wrong and I'll own up to it.

He has owned Finch huh. He is significantly larger than him. Mr. Meeks posted on the Boards the other day about how they were excited about being Cyclones. So that changed in a matter of two days?

Is he even able too? I mean, basketball commits can't sign until November and football commits can't sign until February. I would imagine that there is a certain date at which point he can sign, probably sometime later this year.

There's no need to get hostile. His dad LOVES Jackson. All I'm saying is that from what I've been told, he won't end up there. I hope I'm wrong. You can attack me then.

So where is he ending up then? I highly doubt your source. I love people who have a source that have no intention of revealing it or having any substantial information other than hes not going to ISU. John Meeks wrestled in the National Freestyle duals last week and wore an ISU shirt in-between matches. Unless something has changed in those few short days I would say try again.

I have a source that says you're wrong. I won't reveal my source, but it's a reliable one.

See I can do it too..............

This is John Meeks dad, let me set the story straight,
1. Who ever said that he owns Finch is a lier because he does not they work very well together

2. Whoever thinks or wants to believe that he is not going to Iowa State is Dead Wrong, it will take God and a act of congress for that to change, now let's bring on all the other recruits ( as the police say in big cities : MOVE ALONG PEOPLE, MOVE ALONG, THEIR IS NOTING TO SEE HERE)

GO CLONES
