They hire a lot of computer and software engineers from ISU. Two of my friends from freshman year got jobs there this year.
Then I am mistaken. But I didn't get the interview through normal recruiting practices.
It might be our top tier Aerospace Engineering program but I'm not sure...
We seriously must have quite the reputation. My buddy is pretty smart but he's stupid at the same time, if that makes any sense. When he said he got a job there I was pretty shocked. They must think pretty highly of this university, though, if they're going to reach out to so many of our students/alumni.
But ya, I've talked to him since he left a few weeks ago. Haven't discussed the job at all but he loves Seattle.
It used to be a lot better. I grew up in Bellevue, on the east side of Lake Washington. Boeing was the big employer for the entire region from Everett down to Renton. I went off to college and married, and never lived there again. A few years after I left, a couple of startup companies started making a name for themselves...Starbucks & Microsoft. Then Amazon moved in. The two hightech companies and one trendy service company brought in a huge influx of Californians.
Seattle used to be a big city with a small town attitude, friendly, clean, well behaved. Not anymore. It's not bad by Chicago or New York standards; it's probably only noticeable to those of us who knew it before the tech boom.
70,000 dollar a year teacher salaries in our 1400 student K-12 system is VERY Common the top end is $100,000.00 is the top end. Huge top end homes are 250K to 300K. Small town treasures!!! OH ya the insurance is awesome also. Play your card right and you should have tons of money saved, your home paid for and IPERS by 60.
