Job thread

Sunday through Thursday so just 1 more day before 2 off
And only 1 more day before you get new shoes!!! You may be surprised how much that may make a difference

It seems you are also overwhelmed. And that’s NORMAL. It will take time for you to acclimate yourself to the new workload and the physical demands of the job. You spent about 20 years accustomed to a much different work pace/workload. Nobody would expect you to adjust to this new pace in a couple days. Over time you will acclimate yourself and you’ll be on cloud 9!!

The biggest takeaway from your first few days of the job is the support you are receiving from your peers. That’s a sign of a great organization.

Hang in there Rulzzz! You’re doing great!!

Today went a little better as I was back at just doing the 5 hours. They scheduled me 3-8 next week too.

Shoe store called me to let me know my new shoes are in.

We are also I believe getting a 3 person on dish which I think is quite necessary with amount we have to wash with the supper rush.

This job is going to have me loving when athletes are off campus. They guys and gals can eat. I get to see a little when I get my food break.

Wish I had terminator ability to scan and know who some are. Without a jersey I'm clueless. :)

This is a whole different world than even when my boys were in school. One of them met Georges and Naz when they sat with him the first week of freshman year at the UDCC. Then he would also run into them in Campustown. Probably a lot less mingling with the plebes with a performance center. Back in my day, the football team had a separate room for training table in the Knapp-Storms dining hall.

They probably will want to meet the legend Rulzzz when they find out you work there.

So proud of you brother! The first week is always hard. Don't be surprised if the second week is almost as tough as your body continues to adapt, but you've got it and can do it. IT WILL GET BETTER!

Try to use your music to set the tone and push through the best you can, one day at a time. Obviously you have a great team around you to help you transition into things, that makes a world of difference - and really rare.

I want you to know how proud all of us are and if there are issues along the way, NEVER feel like you're letting anybody down. When and where you need us, we'll always be there waiting for you.

I know the football team ate in the Wallace training table in the mid ‘70’s, must have moved to Knapp later.

Yea I remember running into Stinson/Blalock at UDCC.

I think Knapp-Storms had one throughout the 1970’s. My brother was in Knapp in early 197o’s and said Tom Goedjen got a very bad time over the only extra point he ever missed. When I started in 1979, they always had a training table room there still. We started keeping track at house meetings how many of us Larry Crawford tried to hit on. It took a really long time due to one very shy woman but Larry made it to 100% when she got a job in the dorm post office.

On my meal break tonight I noticed a couple athletes I could recognize off the playing field. Emily and Kelsey from wbb.
How have you been feeling at work the past couple of days? Are the new shoes helping?

Yeah helping some. Right now though I'm working 5 hour shifts and after 5 hour shifts I'm in pretty decent pain knee wise.
You might look around online for some chair yoga stuff that is aimed at people with knee pain. I do a lot of yoga and am always looking for new routines on YouTube, and since I am old I get a bunch of ads for chair yoga. Some of that seems like it might be aimed at strengthening muscles around the knee.

I've bought a wrap-around knee "brace" thing for when one of my knees was really hurting. WalMart, Target have them and you can ask a pharmacist about them, too.
