So now people are upset we spent some money to keep one of, if not, our best player? First they were mad we couldn’t get a couple players and now they’re mad we used resources to keep one. I swear some of ya’ll want to look at things glass half empty at all times. I also don’t know if some are actually fans. I mean there was a guy last night who flat out say he rarely watches lol.

That’d be like me going on a Reddit thread for Game of Thrones and arguing with people but telling them I’ve only watched some of the series and read one book.
Well to be fair, that one book was all I needed to read to know it was an awful TV show - some doomer probably

I think the reason CW gets extra **** over this stuff is because he was pretty outspoken when it all came down that the player perspective on NIL was correct. I'm sure the last three years may have changed his opinion on that. But at the time there was plenty dismissiveness when this outcome was predicted, by lots of people. AD's and the NCAA saw it for what it was, the rest of us are catching up. That doesn't mean tormenting CW about it years later makes any rational sense, however.

This will still be dealt with, this system if you can call it that, is insane.

Hmm, I wonder why?

What would cause people to defend themselves when they are constantly attacked, are told they are less of a fan, are told its all their fault when we don't get good players, are told they shouldn't have an opinion in the matter, and are baclsically treated like a 2nd class citizen because they either can't afford it and or choose not to for moral purpose?

This is all happening without even knowing how many tens of thousands of dollars they've already spent on following the sport in the past.

This isn't even directed at this forum either. I've seen it all over social media with pretty much every fan base in the country.
Social media isn't real. You don't know those people, why do you care if they think you're less of a fan? I'm old school, I think you're less of a fan because you're an incessant complainer and doomer.

i wish I had your optimism. It will only get dealt with if the teams with all the money see a benefit to them.
Ultimately the SEC and B10 must decide if parity has any advantages. The pros have rules that intend to level the playing field. That, imo , is a benefit for the sport overall.
There are obviously teams outside those leagues with a ton of cash like BYU who paid $7M for one high school kid.
Remember the Golden Rule - those with the gold make the rules.
I do hope this current situation gets fixed.

I don't think that most people who supported players getting paid imagined the wild west scenario that it quickly became. This goes way, way beyond the value of name, image and likeness.

I doubt that there is a single player out there that has sold enough in advertising, endorsements or merchandise to equal the value of what they are being paid, and I doubt any are particularly close.

My understanding is that nothing is a done deal, but it seems like there might be enough smoke to say that someone was going after him hard.

Just look at what all that Duke money got them when it mattered most. Eternal national disasterous collapse. Superstar missed a bunny shot. Not sure this correlates with this thread ... but just felt good to type it.

Not a Duke fan, but it got them to the Final Four. Only one team can win.

Exactly. NIL is being paid to advertise for a business, sell your t-shirts, hats, jerseys, and profit from your social media dealings. It isn't pooling money in collectives to buy players just to go to a certain school.

These guys and girls could and should be cleaning house in social media. The money being thrown around there is mind blowing. Just did a tax return for a regular college student who does social media influencing and the amount of money made me seriously consider changing my career. Seeing what this regular kid is making (you guys wouldn't believe me if I told you and then you'd be pissed at your life choices lol) opened up my eyes to what celebrity athletes are making.
