Jaylon Jackson arrested for OWI in Ames

Does the athletic department have a hard rule on OWI?

If it doesn't, and Jackson's been a good teammate I won't object to Jackson getting to play his last game. Might feel different if in the middle of the season or something (the send a message thing). He will already play a hefty price in fines, suspended license and insurance premiums.

Or depending on how over the limit he was. Here in Minnesota it's 4th-degree misdemeanor for first offense but jumps to 3rd-degree and a gross misdemeanor for BAC 0.16% or over. I have more sympathy for people right at 0.08. that's "mistake" territory. 0.16% level is not a mistake.

I got one for .04 because I wasn't 21. Passed the test and everything.

Disagree with this. When people have a big enough issue with alcohol, their livers stop processing it. BIL has been in ICU multiple times this year. Wasn’t driving, but he fell in his home and was lying there for days and still was over the limit by the time we found him and got him to the hospital. If your liver is damaged, you can think it’s long enough from your last drink to drive when it is not.

Ok, but doubtful that situation applies here. It is fair to say that in most cases the degree of impairment relates pretty directly to BAC and should be taken into account.

Don't any of you remember what happens to running backs that fumble under Campbell?
Was it Mike Warren who fumbled quite often and he was our leading rusher the season before? I can't recall whether this issues also involved fumbling the ball but IIRC blocking was a big issue and he was dinged up after the freshman season

Criminal complaint says they were in the complex for an unrelated interaction. While they were there he hit another car in the lot.
Better check with my kid to make sure it wasnt his car that was hit.

Those lanes are wide enough for 2 vehicles so that is pretty bad that he hit another vehicle.

He was the first to get thrown on the bench yes but I assuming Montgomery made that decision easier. Either way that's a 1000 yard rusher getting put into storage.

Good for you. Just a bit surprised that a number of posters within this thread, didn't drink n drive during college. Assuming, pre MAD?
Given my 80's tenure? One could be just shy of passed out, and nobody suggested, "take his-her keys, give him/her a ride home."
Just sayin, minus anything resembling approving.
Never ever drove drunk at ISU during the 90s. I'm not a teetotaler by any stretch, but I've only been drunk a couple of times in my life and hated the feeling, so I rarely have more than one drink.

depending on height/weight and food intake, one drink you could be considered "driving drunk" with current limits.

Hell we would drive gravel with two cases. We pulled a sled behind the car once when it was really snowy. No idea how no one got hurt.

You're in the minority on this board. Assuming you don't judge .08 lower than it is.
I hate cops and do anything I can to avoid them. But also, I was never much of a bar person. Always preferred house parties. They are way more fun (got tons and tons of insane stories), cheaper, and the parties were usually at my house so I didn't need to drive.

I also never drove late nights on weekends in Ames. Welch or house party was always a walk. But skipping class on Wednesdays to play 36 holes for $35 at Honey Creek that led to everyone having more than enough busch lights to get over .08 but still felt and appeared fine was a regular thing.
