Jamie Pollard...

Jamie has done a very good job with all things financial at ISU, and developing facilities for sure. He has improved the Department in every way.

His achilles heel is the Football Coaching hires, but it is a tough tough job to be the HC at ISU. It's a very difficult fill. I don't think it is the same as not being able to hire the right Coach for Texas.

You get what you pay for, and we do not comp our HC's at the level of the rest of the Big 12. Can we? I don't know, but you have to pay these guys to get them to come here.

NDSU pays their coach less. Toledo pays their coach less.

If you reinvent Widget A and it's met with record breaking sales (like season ticket sales) than high praise indeed.

"Reinvent" would suggest he has done something other ADs at other schools have not done before, which is simply not true. Maybe done things previous ADs at ISU had not, but he has not done anything revolutionary. If you are used to having terrible workers and then an average worker arrives, from your perspective he is the greatest thing to ever happen to your company. From the perspective of all other companies, he is still just an average employee.

ISU fans, alumni, etc. need to stop looking at ISU from an ISU frame of reference, and start looking at it from a frame of reference of any other power 5 school (because believe it or not, that is what we are, and who we should be trying to compete with)

So does UNI. And the interim Kansas coach that beat us last season. I'm pretty sure we pay more than Tulsa as well. And more than Rutgers and Utah did at the time.

Point being, since a lot of people seem to be intentionally obtuse, is that we don't even have a staff that can compete against lower level teams. So saying "welp, we don't pay as much as the top of the Big XII" is like refusing to break up with a ****** girlfriend because "welp, it isn't like we'll get Jennifer Lawrence". ISU can't afford a Sabin or a Harbaugh. ISU can afford a coach who isn't a dumpster fire.

How come ou r big XII payout used to be 7 mil or so less than 10 years ago, is up to over 20+ mil, but we barely pay our FB coach any now than we did, the man who responsible for the most part of bringing that $$$ in?
I know we've spent it on upgrades, but don't blow the whole load

What? Where is this from? I guess I missed this.

I also remember JP going public and lamenting about the instant gratification/me generation or something along those lines when so many of Gmac's players were transferring out. Pretty much had to eat those words when Fred got here and we had players transferring in.

BVDV did some good things while he was here, his handling of the LE mess was apparently his undoing. That issue was a hot potato with no good solution, however LE himself said it was best he left Ames. But BVDV won a national award for A.D. of the year while he was here, so obviously he wasn't the chump some try to make him out to be.

BVDV must have a new handle on CycloneFanatic

Im not into the finances of the university, but I don't get how we cannot afford to pay a coach 2-3 million, that delivers results.

I asked myself that when all the Hoiberg drama was taking place and people saying we couldn't afford to spend a ton on a new coach if Hoiberg left. Yet as a fan base we would of expected Pollard to throw 3-4 million at Hoiberg to try and stay if that was a possibility.

* would've, or would HAVE.

Sorry, that one's my (biggest) pet peeve.

Like 99.99% of everyone; good on him.

If you don't care about the wrestling program that's your choice, but ISU wrestling has had a bigger national presence than our football team ever has. If something actually keeps a university near the top of something why not try to keep it there?

Jamie's Football Hires so far have not produced much in the way of Wins and propelling our fball program toward the top of the big 12..........

Jamie deserves One More Football Coach Hire and if that does NOT work out then its Good Bye Jamie.

+1 for being the most interesting capitalization scheme I've seen in quite some time.
