Jamie Pollard...

What-the-eff-ever. Revenues went up because Texas stayed in the conference and got us all a sweetheart TV deal.

Jamie was just here to spend the money. Anyone could do that.

And, of course, JP did nothing to try and keep this conference together. He has had nothing to do with all the decisions being made by the ADs about the conference....He had nothing to do with recruiting and developing donor relations. He nothing to do with hiring Fred....:pconfused:

Could we be lucky enough to have some other university to take him off our hands? Like others took some of his bad coaching hires from us? Fingers crossed, but I doubt he'd take the job if offered. He has to realize USC wouldn't tolerate his incompetence like so many here are willing to do. With the way some worship him here, he has pretty good job security.

I am pretty sure JP is waiting for the Wisconsin AD job to open up. I don't think he'll be leaving Ames unless it's for Wisco.

I am not the biggest Pollard fan because I don't think he supports our wrestling program enough to get us back into National Title contention. Should have done whatever it took to keep Cael Sanderson in Ames.

He could give 2 rips about our wrestling program. Mark it down that that as long as Pollard is around KJ will always be our coach.

JP is the best thing that has happened to ISU. My experience is the only folks that don't like him are the older, penny pinching fans that are scorned because they lost their 50 yd line seats they used to get for next to nothing.

Try reading a few posts about JP and you will realize what you say is not true. And, to push back on your judgement of the "penny pinching" fans who had 50 yard line seats...how do you suppose they had those in the first place? Most likely they helped financially to get what is now Jack Trice built. They were committed long before many of us ever earned a paycheck. Be careful with who you judge....they are not the enemy.

No donor support and no budget vs. blank checks and open wallets.

Jamie has his downsides (as does any AD or human for that matter) but some of you need to take in the whole picture. Look at Iowa State athletics as a whole now compared to before he got here. The progress is unmatched in ISU history except for maybe whoever was responsible for the upgrades in the 70's. And the progress goes beyond facilities. Donations have risen and interest has risen. Most importantly though, the fanbase is growing at a staggering rate. The guy is all about the future and building from the ground up. We are just now getting a foundation to stand on and its thanks to Pollard.

Frankly, the thought of losing him scares me.

He drives me nuts sometimes because I don't care for his personality, but I agree. He is a very good AD for the most part. I don't trust him on the hire though. Outside of the track coach his record has been Iowan or biblebeater (whichever is cheapest). I want a winner, I don't care if he swears and is from Arkansas or wherever.

Many of those folks were able to get those seats with as little as a one-time $100 donation to the stadium fund, with no recurring donation necessary to keep them. Great job by the 1973 administration to hamstring every future administration by writing it up that way.

I didn't think he would leave with his son here but with the current heat....maybe

How many more millions of dollars does Pollard need to spend on facility upgrades to no longer be considered a penny pincer? On one hand, he gave Rhoads too long of a contract, on the other, he's a penny pincer. Which is it?

Under Pollard we have had one of the best 4 year runs in our football history and without a doubt, the best 5 year run in our basketball history, yet he gets trashed for his coaching hires. That does not make sense.

I've yet to hear a good reason why Pollard should be let go.

I will say that Pollard has been a good AD but I want you to list the things that he has made happen own his by raising the revenue at Iowa State?

But they are penny pinchers ****** their seats aren't given to them and then they expect every program to compete. Also, good for them in getting a half of stadium built.

Uh, you do know that the large projects have been largely funded privately right?

Oh, you're still ****** about Prohm. I see your point though. I mean, so far it's been a huge disaster.

I don't necessarily agree that he has been that bad at hiring coaches, (especially since one of them was the 2nd best hire in ISU history) but even if he is, I too would still want him around since we seem too using more search committees and have Leath involved in hiring. That should help to cover that possible deficiency.
