Jameel McBlock

I'd like to add that the block on Ellis on Saturday was awesome. I was yelling at my TV so loud when I saw that!

Big daddy Kane changed his avatar again.....let that sink in!!

I can't think of a nicer guy to block than forty year Perry Ellis.
Is it just me, or is watching Perry Ellis' facial expression the most depressing thing ever? He looks like he's never had a happy moment in his life. Every time I see him, he looks like he is about to cry at any moment.

He's been so much fun to watch. He hasn't been 100% yet, either (back and conditioning), let that sink in!

ISU records for most blocked shots...

in a game: 11, Kelvin Cato (Texas Pan American)
in a season: 118, Kelvin Cato (1996-1997)
in a career: 235, Jared Homan (2002-2005)

If McKay were getting Cato's minutes, I think he'd end up with the season record next year. He could still end up with the game record before he's done, though I don't know if he'll play enough to get the career record.

Man, going through the records I forgot just how big a rim-protector Cato was. He averaged 2.63 blocks/game in 1996, and 4.21 blocks/game in 1997. He averaged 3.44 blocks/game for his two-year ISU career. Digging a little deeper, Cato played 25.8 and 28.6 min/game - that works out to 4.1 and 5.9 blocks per 40 minutes, respectively. But he was also 3 inches taller than McKay at 6'11". McKay right now has logged 19 blocks in 148 minutes (21.1 min/game), or 5.1 blocks per 40 minutes.

From on all accounts he actually is a nice guy. But I Jameel is so fun to watch out there. His energy is amazing and even if he isn't getting the block he is affecting all shots from the post.

Big XII 6th Man of the Year, assuming he continues to come off the bench.

BDJ, however, has some stiff competition for Newcomer of the Year.

Niang/Morris: 1st Team All Big XII.

Some ISU fans don't want McKay getting minutes because he "messes up spacing" for everyone on our offense when he's in.

Let that sink in.
