Jake Knott

Our team seems to rely absurdly heavily on leaders. AJ Klein, Jake Knott, Tom Farniok... If anyone of these players go down for whatever reason, its night and day football.

It's clear Farniok being out is why we lost to Kansas......

Oh, wait...

Our whole starting linebacking corps that year was made of future NFL players. I think that has something to do with it.

Jake & AJ had this crazy ability to know exactly where the other would be and where the ball would be. Although AJ was probably the more skilled of the pair, each made the other look even better. As a team of linebackers, their connection reminded me of the one that Stinson & Blaylock had in basketball.

Obviously a very special player. But, what was so special about him that this program has been a nosedive coinciding with the moment he could no longer play for us? Thoughts? If he isn't picked up in the NFL I would be VERY interested in bringing him on somewhere to try to recapture whatever it is that he has.

I'm sorry man. I am pretty sure his eligibility is all used up.

There were several good defensive players on that team. As some may recall, ISU had 3 first team all Big 12 selections on defense. Jake McD, Jake Knott, and AJ. Think about that, ISU had 3 first team All Big 12 players on Defense. That won't happen again in our lifetimes. People forget Jake McD was almostunblock-able one on one before he got banged up late in the year

Also had Maggitt, Laing, Broomfield, and Washington all who were serviceable.A

And then Jeremy Reeves as well, small but a really good corner.

Any of those guys would be the best player on this defense right now.

Honestly, before people started getting hurt mid season that was one of the better defenses in the country that year. Lot of talent there. In retrospect we probably were not agressive enough defensively. But then again the idea was to let AJ and Jake chase everyone down and they did for the most part.

Or the team of Naz-Monte-McKay-Thomas-Hogue-Niang-Custer-Nader-BDJ-Edozie-Tsalmpouris-Jackson-SDW from that 2014-15 national championship team. The chemistry that team had was amazing.

Prognosticating?

Hope you're right! There were a couple of sweet no-look passes last Friday...but they might not connect as well against our conference competition.

Actually in the basketball prediction thread, I went with final four loss to the eventual champs because of a bad call or a buzzer beater. It's the universe's main rule; Cyclones are not meant to be champions. We can get close, but that will just make it hurt more when our hearts are torn out.

I'm (mostly) kidding.
