I agree. Do we want to get in the habit of paying 4 million to players? It sucks, but we shouldn’t match UK and Louisville’s offer for Milan.
Maybe if sign and trades were possible

lol, so if they haven’t practiced yet it’s earlyThe spring semester just ended, grades due today. Yes, it's early. He hasn't even been in a practice yet.
Should Pierce have been "allowed" to decommit last summer after being in workouts? Or, since the perception is that he wasn't good enough, it's ok?
I agree. Do we want to get in the habit of paying 4 million to players?
Not even being on campus yet isn't early? Make your grapes less sour, goodness people. Get used to this, it's going to keep happening here and there. It's not a big deal. Obviously the staff is perfectly fine with it.lol, so if they haven’t practiced yet it’s early
The question of whether they should be “allowed” to decommit and whether it’s early are very different
They’re always allowed to decommit. Can’t and shouldn’t force a player to be committed.
But it’s not early
It'd be nice to have a roster salary that made it not a concern for sure.Depends on the total roster salary, the player, and the team
Bingo. What people forget about NIL and the ability to get paid is that you need to be on the court ASAP in order to get future cash offers. You can't do that as a Frosh coming to sit on the bench for a year, for example. If you go down a level, start and tear it up, you're getting paid next season. Done. Net gain for the player.I get it, really. He probably didn't think he was going to immediately get the playing time he wanted. In today's NIL world, his decision is probably the most lucrative. He's going to get time on court at UNLV. If he does well, it will mean a better chance at a NIL deal the following year.
Agreed. We only would get Milan one more year. Why wouldn’t we throw all the money we can to get him back? I’m failing to see the consequences of throwing all the money we can at one of the best shooters in college basketball historyLikely in the future we do. More about how $4 million compares to total roster salary
Milan may be higher than that at UK. And for next couple years forecasted roster, I don’t think matching is best utilization of $4+ million

We only get any player for a year, and good chance Milan will have a 5th year if he wants it.Agreed. We only would get Milan one more year. Why wouldn’t we throw all the money we can to get him back? And, he could come back to ISU the following year. This is a win-win.Bingo. I’m sure the premium board was all over this hours before it was posted here.Am I crazy or hasn’t this been known for quite a while?
Well, there was a pretty big donor at the stop last night in CR, and TJ mentioned him right at the beginning of his conversation with John Walters. Called him a good friend and was happy he was able to make it there after returning from a business trip.Maybe someone at the Cedar Rapids Tailgate tour stop had a convo with him today. ;-)
It seems to me that your unreasonable definition of "early" is why the grapes are soured, huh. That seems like a problem from someone claiming to be the expert here, asking if the rest of us are "new to college basketball".“He hasn't even been in a practice yet”
That was used as a justification for saying it is early. Which is ridiculous
Get used to it? Are you new to college basketball? It’s been happening for a years- ever since the draconian NLI era ended. If anything it’s going to happen less as contacts tied to revenue sharing.
It’s not a big deal. Any freshman not getting good salary really should go somewhere else imo. It also isn’t early. Why do you couple those two distinct aspects?
I still highly doubt Milan returns. But it is fun to speculate now there is an opening. We will know a lot more in the next 7 daysWell, there was a pretty big donor at the stop last night in CR, and TJ mentioned him right at the beginning of his conversation with John Walters. Called him a good friend and was happy he was able to make it there after returning from a business trip.
I was thinking this business owner, owns a business in CR and ISU grad, is probably an NIL donor to the basketball program. Now, probably has nothing to do with Milan, but who knows?
This was my thought too - with the timing of it and with TJ's connections to UNLV (the freshman and transfers coming to campus in a couple weeks and with NBA entries needing to decide if they're for sure staying in the draft or going back to college in a couple weeks).Interesting timing. Has to be mutual because you aren't voluntarily going from ISU to UNLV this late in the game (or any other time for that matter).
TJ knows something.
Williams and Blum podcast today said there is no correlation to Milan with Kiss leaving. The agreed arrangement for Kiss was to have him redshirt next season. Kiss recently decided he wanted to play next year and the staff told him he won't see much if any playing time at ISU. ISU helped him find another landing spot (UNLV). They said there was absolutely no animosity between either party. So the timing of this is just coincidental to Milan's decision, but there is no correlation between the twoThis was my thought too - with the timing of it and with TJ's connections to UNLV (the freshman and transfers coming to campus in a couple weeks and with NBA entries needing to decide if they're for sure staying in the draft or going back to college in a couple weeks).
The insanely optimistic/over caffeinated part of me thought for a hot second "Milan recently claimed he hasn't talked to any other schools...I wonder if Milan told TJ he wanted to come back to ISU, so TJ got Albaugh and Hy Vee on the horn to scrounge together some more dollars for Mommy. TJ knew of the four incoming freshman Kiss was a little more of a project, so he hit up his connections from UNLV asking them for a solid and to take care of Kiss, so he told Kiss "here's a better opportunity for you," opening the door for Mommy's return."
FWIW, this was the nitro cold brew coming through, and I 100% don't think Milan returns to ISU but man it would be electric if he did.
This...Milan ain't coming back and we will get a better ROI using any Kiss NIL money to bring in a future playerThe other thought I had was we were dropping Kiss so we will have more money for our 2027 class and add Kohnen or Ann. It might be a future move to be honest. Who knows. Guessing it will eventually spill out on this thread
