Per the NCAA - not sure they could have done much different....

  1. Numerals. Clearly visible, permanent Arabic numerals on one jersey atleast 8 and 10 inches in height front and back, respectively, of a color(s)in distinct contrast with the jersey. All players of a team shall have thesame color and style numbers front and back. The individual bars mustbe approximately 1-1/2 inches wide. Numbers on any part of the uniformshall correspond with the mandatory front and back jersey numbers.

Michigan had small numbers last year

I always thought that Nike would not allow the original Jack Trice uniforms because of the three prominent stripes on the front. If we were an Adidas school we may have had the original version as our regular uniforms? Nike found a way around this by forcing us to go with 5 stripes. A good compromise I guess since there was no way they would allow three stripes.

The original always had 5 stripes.

Looks like the originals had 5 stripes to me...

The announcement from Iowa State is coming tomorrow. Wearing throwbacks for the Iowa game. Just thought I'd throw that out there since there's been chatter on wearing them for the Iowa game. Again, announcement coming tomorrow where I imagine they will also unveil the jerseys at that time.

You have just destroyed the under 100 post policy!

Thanks Joshusa. I wondered if it did because it is so hard to tell if there were two stripes on the side of the uniforms. Still I think Nike definitely would not want the three prominent stripes in front like the originals and could have influenced putting all 5 stripes in front like the throwback. Would you agree, the design is clearly different?

Those are so badass- finally Iowa State has something unique to call our own !

The problem is they are using them for one game only. They should be our permanent uniforms. It's really amazing that those in charge don't realize that.

I might be O.K. if they changed the socks, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if they kept them.

So, Joshua, why aren't the stores using Jack Trice's number for the t-shirts or replicas? I would think they could charge a fortune for that. Or are you holding the rights to the number?

Well, it's hard to see some of the stripes on Jack's jersey, because quite frankly, he was ripped. See how his massive chest pushes out the stripes, while the relative waif next to him--Johnny Behm--looks like a kid in comparison. (Behm was no slouch--he was an all-conference player.)

The throwback uniforms definitely feature stripes that are spaced closer than the originals, so in that aspect the design is different.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Jesus H Christmas these are awesome.

The only thing I would change, would be to add an I-State logo right at the V of the neck, similar to the logo that is on the pants. I realize that is being extraordinarily picky, I think it would be the cherry on top. Other than that IMO, perfection.

I GIVE IT A 10! A ******* 10!

How could he hold a copyright on a school item? Doesn't seem correct...

But yeah, 37 on the back of that think would be awesome. I'm gonna buy a replica.

I am not holding the rights to the number--when I found out the last piece of information that confirmed Jack as number 37, I shared it with ISU immediately.
