Part of me wants to wait until 100th anniversary of Trice's death to see those uniforms, but if they are going to be unveiled, it probably should be soon.

Prototypes have been floating on the interwebs too long to delay it, if it's going to happen at all. If it held off until 2023, fans might almost be bored with the concept ... or it might risk becoming the sports alternate-uniform version of "Smile" by The Beach Boys.

So a good plan is to do it this season, tie it into the 40th anniversary of JTS groundbreaking.

If ISU goes that route, speculation about which game it'll happen is easy: Oct. 26 vs. Oklahoma State, 40 years to the date of groundbreaking. Texas game would make sense from national spotlight standpoint.

Doing it vs. Iowa would be a waste. The rivalry itself can sustain that weekend.
With the Texas game being on 10/3, it's got the direct tie to the 90th anniversary of Jack Trice's death, the game on 10/6/23 followed by his death on 10/8/23.

For everyone that thinks this is BS, I also have been hearing that these are coming out this year. I don't know when, but I heard that they look pretty awesome.

How come so many people have "heard" about how great they look, but no one is saying what they look like? "Pretty awesome" is a relative term. Can anyone confirm that it is indeed a Jack Trice throwback jersey?

Love it. As everyone knows now, Jack Trice's number was 37. I looked at the football roster and nobody is currently wearing #37. I think when they do bring out the throwback jerseys is to once and for all retire Jack Trice's #37. This is well overdue and would be the icing on the cake for the occasion.

Do you all always get this worked up over clothing?

like totally...

...considering ISU rarely does throwbacks, is the only D1 team with a stadium named for a black person (at a time when black athletes weren't accepted most places), is coming up on the 40th anniversary of naming the stadium for him, the 90th anniversary of his death, and several years worth of built-up desire to see this jersey, the JT throwback isn't just because it "looks cool". The JT jersey is our shared history, our identity as a progressive school, and our future as a football team all rolled into one. so i'd say yes, getting worked up is appropriate.
