Ivermectin for treating covid19

Rational discussion in the cave? I stand a better chance getting Benji and buddy to be rational and civil in the ISR forums.

Seems most often the people who claim there isnt rational discussion in there are the ones that fly in with irrational thoughts (or, usually crap from youtube) and then head for the hills when people bring the facts

Or they just drop in with racist memes and get mad when people call them racist. That's pretty common too.

There's no reason it can't happen. Lay aside your prejudices and look at the bigger picture. One group posting its politics in Off Topic where they cant be rationally debated is no more fair than some zealots of another persuasion spouting off in the cave. There could be a right wing presence in the cave.

How does one "earn" an ad hominem attack? I missed that in speech/debate class. Granted, it was decades ago when I took those classes, so things might have changed.
The same way one would earn other discourteous commentary. It isnt difficult to understand if one wants to.

I'm not trying to win a debate here so I'm not sure how your ancient speech classes apply.

I don’t post politics in off topic (not knowingly and will pull the post or Change it if rationally informed). I’m more middle of the road. I switch per topic. I don’t care for name called, personal attacks, and just insults and many times all in one post. I was told my a mod to toughen up when I mentioned it or leave the cave because that is how it’s done in there. I left.

I don't believe I said you were posting political mattters, so I'm not sure why you are taking what I said in that fashion. Plenty of the wet farters have historically done so, however. Are you saying you haven't observed that?

I don't approve of endless barrages of ad hominem attacks, but it has been demonstrated time and time again that some of the wet farters are posting in Off Topic because they believe that the Mods will allow then to inject their politics into the threads and will prevent those thinking otherwise from doing the same. It has happened time and time again and it will happen again with this thread eventually. There's no reason that rational debate can't occur in the cave. You've made my point--Off Topic is not supposed to be a place for debate. He knows all of this. His postings have resulted in numerous threads being closed or removed. He is a coward.

All the while you inject your politics which you are clearly doing. Posts like yours are actually what usually gets them ultimately removed. Can't you just say, hmm that's interesting and hopeful, or post some counter evidence if it exists. Seems to me reputable experts think there is something to this, maybe not 100% sure, but they think it needs to be looked at. That is all this is about. A lot of kettles calling the pot black here.

What did the OP do in this thread to warrant you purposely introducing a logical fallacy into the discussion?

Unless you really think FOX News was staging that whole hearing, why would you attack a poster because of the network source he chose to relay the contents of a public medical hearing that is eventually going to end up in the Congressional Record?

I got the impression it was kinda aimed at me and I apologize for my misunderstanding. There is politics posted all the way around from both sides. I actually believe things like the dumb icon has allowed people to just post dumb instead of dialogue to explain what they disagree with or what the problems are. I’ve never used it and generally start blocking those who routinely use it (sometimes just mentally blocking by skipping them) because I lose respect that.

What I'm telling you is that the Mods should be making him post this in the cave (if anywhere) so that you can freely point out the integrity of his source without recrimination. I have no problem with you. I would note that there are *some* sources reporting test results supporting that Ivermectin could be helpful in treating COVID which are far more reputable than Fox News, but that is a different matter.

There are two completely different standards.

Some people need safe spaces.

1. There is a history of abuses by the OP, using an Off Topic thread for political purposes. The pattern is always the same. Some information posts to start the thread, followed by increasingly political posts as it goes along. This thread is nothing more than the continuation of the wet fart thread tradition, which has consistently resulted in closed threads for violating the prohibition of political commentary in Off Topic threads.
2. I'm not introducing logical fallacies. I'm not engaging in debate. I am calling him out for his pattern of abuses. This thread is an attempt to proceed down the same path.
3. I don't think that Fox News had anything to do with it, which was why I suggested to another not to make comments on Fox News, which would call in for political discussion on a non-political board. I also stated that I believed there was reputable reporting and, more importantly, studies supporting the idea that Ivermectin could combat SARS-COV-2.

The OP probably posted it here because unlike the cave, you have to engage in actual rationa civill debate rather than simply launching endless barrages of ad hominem attacks.

I was told a few months ago that I'm not allowed to challenge anything anyone posts in the OT board.

Seriously "this thread is not the place to challenge ideas" was word for word what I was told.

Yeah, that's a great debate you've got. Enjoy that safe space soft life.

Sorry. I wasn't accusing YOU of anything.

I've been told that I'm not allowed to counter or challenge any ideas on the off topic board.

Any criticism of the Iowa governor or current president is definitely not allowed. So unless your leaders are right 100% of the time, you're celebrating a completely worthless and shallow safe spacer life here.

No.

You were the one telling people that "their kind" wasn't welcome in your little right wing echo chamber. I've not forgotten that.

And again, I don't take issue with some studies supporting that Ivermectin may prove helpful. That's not the point and you know it.

One poster gave me the "dumb button" yesterday because I agreed with Dan Gable that Dan Gable would beat Trump at wrestling.

That's probably the all time high of dumb button culture on this site.

That’s why I think it’s a button that is best to get rid of. Some people label everything dumb from someone they don’t like. I can’t imagine being so beaten by a person that I have to do second grade tactics like that. There are some extreme internet warriors on here.

I bet I have 500-1000 dumb buttons from one or two posters and around a dozen from all the other users combined (some from friends I know are joking). That tells you all you need to know.

Yeah, maybe...or maybe...because that comment in context with the other text in your post could have been interpreted as a veiled attempt to introduce snarky political comment into that nonpolitical thread. Just sayin...

Don't know for sure though, as I don't have access to the coveted "dumb" button, so I am not versed in its dispensation. I do get it from time to time though. It's kind of anticlimactic to receive it, as the icon is rather bland...

Honest question- if the video has a political bent to it, who does it make look good and who looks bad? It appears this guy is mad at the federal govt but I’m not sure who he’s blaming. Doesn’t he start out by condemning remarks by whom I assume is a member of the majority party in the senate? Also, I think this is video from Cspan being shown by a Fox affiliate, not Fox News, but I could be wrong. I didn’t notice anybody editorializing before the video.
