***ISU vs Iowa***

Agree, too many count all season tickets sold even when those people don't show up. How many times have you heard sold out crowd but the cameras show many empty seats. Would love to see the actual count from the units used to check us in.

Well, that not going to happen. It bugs me some since with all of the electronic scanning an actual "in the house" count would be easy to tab up. With that said, in comparison to fans in the stands at most schools our attendance is pretty amazing for what has been mostly a middling conference team the last 4-5 years. I see some Big 10 games where the stands are essentially empty during weekday games. Looks like if you took out friends and family the arenas would be empty. We kinda win the attendance stuff no matter if it's sold tickets or cheeks in the seats but there is no incentive for us to pick the lower number...no one else is.

The sisters are just not very good this year. just don't know how else to put it.
I think we have plenty of talent on the team, even though I did not get to see the game, hope to see it on replays. They are just not putting anything together at this point in the season. Maybe later?

Which ones do you listen to as I have heard him take the blame a number of times when the problem was not his doing. Shooting is not the coaches fault, some times shots fall and other times like last night hey do not.
A lot of the time they are forced shots and shots taken by the wrong person as the shot clock is running out because of the offense (maybe non offense) he is trying to run. Dribble the ball in circles and never make a good pass

If Jack was such a great assistant, then why is he still Director of Player Development at OSU? Littell has turned his assistants over there, yet Jack has never been promoted.

Was Jack Easley really that great? Honestly asking. I have no idea. And is Billy the posts coach or whatever Easley coached?

Seriously? Penguin, you like Three4Cy's post, but say you have no idea?

Jack brought man-to-man defense to Iowa State and was our key defensive coach. He was key in developing a lot of our great players such as Poppens. He is DOPD at OSU because that is what he wants at this stage of his career. Billy is probably a fine assistant, but we lost 30+ years of Big 12 coaching experience when Jack left. I'm sure Billy has brought some great new energy and ideas to things, but consider me old fashioned, there is just no replacing 30+ years of experience.

What Billy lacks in years of coaching (hands on) he makes up in very good recruiting choices. Since he has been on staff our recruiting has been on the rise.

The recruiting has been very hit and miss... spotty at best(It always has been). I do not know which ones Billy has been apart of either. He started here in 12/13.

2013: Buckley(given with connection), S Johnson(great). J Jenson(Bust), Gambino(never made it): 2 out of 4
2014: Durr(decent), Bell(bust), Fernstrom(...), Ricketts(bust), Blaire Thomas(bust): 1 out of 5
2015: Burkhall(Jury is out), Carleton(great), TeeTee(bust) 2 out of 3
2016: Nia(bust), Camber(decent), Sofia(bust), Konate(bust) 1 out of 4
2017: Too early to tell but they look OK.
2018: Can't tell yet but Ashley looks good on paper.

I really do not see how you can say that we are recruiting much better than we have since before he got here? Bolte, Prins, Poppens, Lacey, Ezell, Christofferson

Point being: Bill used to produce better results with whatever recruiting classes he got in. That is just simply not the case any more. We are all looking for answers to that. We have had one coaching change since 2003. The downward trend has been since that coach left. The reason may or may not be Billy but as fans we can only look at the records and trends. We do not see what goes on behind closed doors or at practice.

We are 93-63 since Jack left and Billy became a full time assistant coach.

Player development hasn't been very good IMO. I think some of these really talented freshman never take that leap forward you would expect. Johnson about the only one? Carleton is really good has no support. Gotta develop the talent. Look at the mens side. Naz Ejim Monte Matt Burton, Nader etc etc. These aren't 5 star recruits but make huge strides during their four years. Maybe its because the roster is that lacking of talent.

And we were 122-54 in Jack's last 5 years

So, in 2012-2013, we went 24-9, without Jack, but with the players he developed, Poppens, Prins, and Christopherson. I don't really think the credit for that season can be given to Billy, especially since Pop & Anna asked to have Jack present for senior speeches, and of the seniors, they all profusely thanked Jack, and 2 of the 3 didn't mention CBF once.

The 1st player BF gave Billy credit for recruiting/scouting was Emily Durr.

And who is in charge of development? We have talked about post development...
Billy era: Mere, Claire, Jordan, M. Baier, Seanna, Fernstrom
Last 5 of Jack: Poppens, Prins, Christofferson, Zimmerman, J. Anderson, Weiben, Ross, Nisleit

Billy w/ 2012/13: NCAA: 3 1st round, 1 2nd round, 1 MISS(looking like 2 misses in the last 3!)
Jack(last 5): 2 1st round, 1 2nd, 1 sweet 16, and 1 elite 8... no MISSES!

Outside of posts our best players have always been pretty good from the get go as freshman. This isn't football where you take a few years to develop lineman. Yes, more so for the posts but gals like Jadda, Johnson, Carleton etc you could tell immediately they were going to be pretty good. The started as freshman and averaged double figures. Wise might be in that same class, she is a five star recruit, we will see.

I hope Wise shows up soon. I had high hopes for her being a 5* recruit and all. As you mentions others have stepped in and excelled from the get go. So far she is averaging 6.9 pts and 4.3 rebs with only 8 assits to 9 TOs. This is all while getting the third most amount of minutes on the whole team at 26.9! Also, she is shooting 38%/25%/69%... ugh!

I understand that it is difficult to step in as a freshman and excel - I just had such hopes for her right away!

CRAZYGREG, dude, you are going to give yourself an ulcer worrying and thinking about it too much. ;) It is what it is and isn't going to change anytime soon. Bill is traditional and stubborn. He isn't going to change any assistants, he's loyal as long as you keep in his good graces and don't question him and the staff has made a career out of staying in his good graces. And JP isn't going to do anything unless we have a total trainwreck and I mean more than just missing the NCAA's.

I don't like Fennelly anymore (at all) but I've accepted it is what it is. I'd love to see a new era with a different coach, maybe a female Prohm/Campbell but just not holding my breath. The current staff can't coach forever but I'm already 66 so they may yet outlast me.

Not sure this slow no point guard snails pace game we seem trapped in plays to her strengths.

I am still a believer in Bill actually. I think he made a HUGE mistake when he let... When Jack "left". I am also worried that if Bill does retire and we hire a new coach about going straight into the toilet. I don't think that it would take much for us to fall to the bottom with a new coach.

Kinda of my point - You can't tell me that we have a 5* recruit and two finalists for Ms. Minnesota (both with a 90 rating on espn) and they can't cut it against the likes of UNI, Tulane, and CMU! That is on the scheme and the coaching - which is why you have to look at the coaches and the only change was bringing on his son.

The line of coaches that would want this job would be long. Fanbase, history, Big12 wbb prestige, current roster, and salary are all big draws.

I don't want coach to go, I figured this year would be a challenging year, but next year needs to be a special year given the roster of talent and returning experience.

This team should be a top-25 team every year, no exceptions. We expect that of MBB and Volleyball, why not WBB? Truthfully, I think WBB should have more reason to be given tenure and history of the staff.

I get a laugh out of everyone second guessing coaches and making unfounded connections between this coach, that player, NCAA performance by the team etc. This is a team sport for a reason. It takes all coaches, all players in combination to produce the result we see on the court. It also is determined by the quality of the teams we play. Come on folks...either you are a fan of ISU women's basketball or not. If you are then support the team. If you aren't find something else to do that doesn't stress you out so much. The bottom line is that we have a set of coaches (that isn't going to change for the foreseeable future). We have some amazing young women who are working their butts off to be a good team. They will get better. Wishing Jack or anyone else was still here is like wishing you could taste that steak you had ten years ago again. Isn't going to happen.
