Post them here. I just typed mine up and didn't realize just how ugly this might get.

125: McDonough by major (4-0)
Finch doesn't have near enough to keep this to a decision. McDonough is that good.

133: Ramos by major (8-0)
We are overmatched here and Ramos has a ridiculous gas tank. Could be a match term.

141: Marion by pin (14-0)
Total mismatch.

149: Ballweg or Carew by decision (17-0)
We have a shot here. Should be a relatively close match.

157: St. John by major (21-0)
St. John is just too much.

165: Evans by decision (24-0)
Evans is one of the best wrestlers the rest of the country has yet to hear about. He pasted Ed Ruth twice in high school. He's a stud. Close match and one we can obviously win.

174: Lofthouse by decision (27-0)
Lofthouse is a go-er. Spangler will gas. This will be a better match later in the year, one we may win should we get Iowa at national duals.

184: Gambrall by decision (30-0)
Asking Gambrall to be ready and healthy is a lot to ask for. If he's not ready, Beard will win this match by decision over Wagner or Fahler. We have a shot at a major if Gambrall doesn't go.

197: Shaffer by decision (30-3)
Lira is built like a tank and could give the slightly undersized Shaffer some trouble but we should win this one.

HWT: Telford by decision (33-3)
Should be a good match and could go either way but Telford will open eyes this year.

Sorenson will win.

I try to take off the homer hat when I make predicitions. My heart and even my head say Sorenson but my gut says Evans. I stepped out and picked the mild upset.

Evans is a stud. Even if Sorenson wins on Sunday I think Evans will finish higher at the NCAAs.

Gramball not a 100%, has only wrestled once at 197. I not betting against Beard. He has lots of heart as does Sorenson.

I give us a shot at 149, 165, 174, 184, 197 and Hwt.
Worried about the beating Cozart took today, but 149 is a weak spot for Iowa.
Spangler will get better and better as he get more mat time from injury.

Don't disagree with your logic and it seems most of the toss up matches have gone to iowa the last few years.

After not just tonight but this year so far Cozart is gonna get smoked because he has NO offense!! & Spangler better get his conditioning up because Iowa wrestlers rarely run out of gas!! I hope the Cyclones can gain some confidence from the crowd next Sunday cause it will suck to get blanked at home!!

Looking at your posting history, I am fairly certain this is a lie. Whenever there was a question, you most definitely went with your REAL favorite team.

I think it is sad that people are so jaded about what is in reality a total rebuild of a program, and the reality that cael left nothing behind, that they played along with a hawk fan.

As for the meet, iowa tech should absolutely dominate the score. I want to see our guys get healthy, continue to improve, and get ready for March.

Wow, has ISU wrestling dropped off that much that we can't even compete. Maybe that is why Cael left he saw the writing on the wall.

Wow....I take it that you don't follow wrestling then?

Cael left because of MONEY, plain and simple. Add the fact that he is in the hotbed of amatuer wrestling, psu gave him a WRESTLING ONLY facility, and paid him more than any coach ever, and it is easy to see why he left.

Plus in iowa you have to deal with that elephant in the room, the iowa techsters. At psu, you are far enough removed that you can create your own identity. While you would be compared to your conference mate, iowa tech, but your geographical distance is great enough that they don't cast that big of a shadow over what you are doing.

Now, since it is OBVIOUS that you don't understand what really happened, let me break it down for you.

When cael was Bobby Douglas lead assistant, he signed a great recruiting class (Fanthorpe, Gallick, etc. basically KJ's first team). Then he signed Reader, and some other good young wrestlers (David Taylor for one) that would have been outstanding here at Iowa State, and put us right in the mix.

When cael took the psu job, he left the senior class, that had already redshirted, and couldn't transfer, and Reader stayed loyal. But he left NOTHING behind those kids, taking his recruiting class with him. The program was gutted, and empty behind that first group.

KJ has had to start basically from scratch. He has brought in some very good wrestlers, and has more on the way. He also has to develop depth in the room, because there wasn't any when he got here. This all takes time.

If we aren't competitive in 2013, then contenders in 2014, then this can be revisited. But the fact that the same people who were so willing to give mac the mediocre more time, and chewey more time, are now up in arms when the actual future of the program is bright, is totally the iowa state mindset that JP, BF, CPR, CJL, KJ, and Freddie, are working hard to try to change.

So I would recommend that you actually understand what the situation is, before making silly blanket statements. You have let the op hawk fan win, good job.

Prepare to be blasted.

Ha! Thanks for the warning.

I haven't followed the team as closely as I used to ever since Cael bailed. So I'm not as educated as I was on who we have and who is coming except in general that we have some good wrestlers coming in.

The blanket statement was really an honest question made in exasperation mainly from the poor start and "disappointing" finishes from the previous 2 years. KJ's first year was suppose to be a "good" year but even though we finished relatively high it did not meet expectations and the following year it fell farther off.

I asked about Cael because I felt it was all about the money too but thought maybe he knew what was coming down the road with recruits. I knew he "took" some wrestlers with him but didn't realize he left the cupboard as bare as he did.

Thanks for the details. Consider me a little more filled in now on the wrestling situation.

I am sorry, I just get frustrated when people go on and on with this same schtick.

I am not giving KJ a pass on this either, but the damage that was done to this program when cael left cannot be underestimated. We are young, and have had injuries, sucks to make excuses, but the reality is that guys like Finch, haven't had partners in the room because there was no depth in the program after year one.

I get that it is no fun knowing iowa tech is going to blast us this weekend. But there just seems to be an internet agenda against KJ.

People refuse to look at the realities of the program at this time, and rush to judgements that are unfair and unwarranted.

Tell me about it. I have family members who wrestled for Iowa. Not gonna be a fun weekend.

Gambrall probably won't be going for Iowa at 184, so here is what I think it will be like, and I'm not 100% sure of the lineup ISU will have so some of these guys for ISU could be wrong but probably won't change the outcome.

125: McDonough MD over Finch 4-0 Iowa
133: Ramos TF over Cash (if not a fall) 9-0 Iowa
141: Marion MD over Mayfield 13-0 Iowa
149: Carew Dec over Weatherman 16-0 Iowa
157: St. John MD over Moreno 20-0 Iowa
165: Evans dec over Sorenson 23-0 Iowa
174: Spangler dec over Lofthouse 23-3 Iowa
184: Beard Dec over Fahler or Wagner 23-6 Iowa
197: Whoever ISU has since Gadsen is out Dec over Lira 23-9 Iowa
Hwt: Telford Dec over Gibson 26-9 Iowa
