ISU Bowl Projection

Everyone go get cancelable (that's a word, right?) plane tickets and hotel reservations in Houston & Phoenix...

...I'd be shocked and utterly disappointed if it ended up being Liberty Bowl/Memphis again.
but that is where channel 8(and they would not be wrong) said we were going against Memphis again. what a pos idea

I'd imagine were in PHX unless BYU makes it in the playoff. I think the negative vibes from the ISU fanbase makes Liberty take Cincy. Houston to Alamo, BYU to Pop Tarts, TCU to Texas Bowl. Kansas State went to Phoenix last year.

throwing **** hoping it sticks
Yeah, the usual lazy reporting we see from the national media. Looking at league standings and matching them up with the bowl tie ins and selection order. I would guess they have no idea that ISU and Memphis have already played twice in that bowl in recent history. Fortunately, the bowl committe is aware of that fact which is why that game won't happen.

Tulane not Texas for Bonagura:

Kinder's Texas Bowl
NRG Stadium (Houston)
9:15 p.m., ESPN

Bonagura: Iowa State vs. Tulane

Honestly, I don’t want to play a G5 team. In Memphis vs Memphis would be worst case scenario, but a game against a team from New Orleans in a town with a bunch of New Orleans transplants doesn’t seem all that appealing either. I want to play in a bowl game, not some G5 team’s Super Bowl.

OK, I'll say it. Could we end up playing Penn State in Phoenix? They are "bowl eligible."

It was 2011. I was at the 2010 game in Ames. It was the season finale and we lost 14-0 with Jerome Tiller at QB because Arnaud got hurt the week before at Colorado. In 2011 we gave up 50+ and lost in Columbia.

I was at that game in 2011 gridiron club had a bus trip. They were already flying sec flags at tailgates.

You’re right. I knew 2010 was final home match before Missouri left, for some reason thought was final season in big 12. I might have been confusing it with Nebraska (2020 was final year)

Ugh, Brett McMurphy has changed his projection to this:

Liberty Bowl (Jan. 2)
Memphis, Tenn.
Iowa State vs. Tulane

He has USC vs. BYU in Alamo (San Antonio), has Houston vs. UTSA in Texas Bowl (Houston) & K-State vs. Minnesota in the Rate Bowl (Phoenix).

I mean this in all seriousness, turn it down.

Hard to understand why we're getting such crappy bowl predictions with a team that's 8-4.
People need to understand that the Liberty Bowl is technically a "better" bowl than the Rate Bowl in Phoenix, even though fans would much rather go to Phoenix than Memphis.

The Liberty Bowl could take us before the Rate Bowl has a chance to... so this will all be on JP's ability to campaign for us to actually prefer to go to a "worse" bowl in a better location for the fans.

We finished around 8th in the conference. Second, the four game losing streak killed us. You lose two, win two, then lose two and it just looks bumpy and not a potential collapse. Lastly, we lost to freaking Colorado, so our image was tanked right then.

I think it would be easy for JP to say that he doesn’t think we would see great attendance this year after being there so often, especially against the same opponent the last two times.
