I was going through some internet nostalgia with a coworker (maddox, homestar runner, etc), and it got me to thinking of Iowa State related material.

Yes there was life before CycloneFanatic, post yours!

For those not in the know: The Wayback Machine is a digital archive of the World Wide Web founded by the Internet Archive, It captures websites throughout time for you to go back and visit.

For instance, let's go to the great Iowa State message board before Cyclone Fanatics. STRANGE TALK!

Here is an archive of the "Focus ISU" forum after the '04 VEISHEA riots. That was my first introduction to a great photoshop threads as StrangeTalk had one for people submitting Riot photos.

Here are a few good articles back from ESPN.com's Page 2 days. Page 2 was more of the softer, comical side of sports. This is where Bill Simmons really took off from.

I appreciate the poor sap that was trying to figure out if his mug shot from the riot arrests would be made public.

Anyone remember CampusAuthority.com.

What I remember of it, it tried to be a newer platform for schools in the online magazine type platform. It started with Iowa State, and had different girls featured in photoshoots around Ames, as well as stories on sports and campus life.

MonkeyThis -- the short-lived delivery service that was several years ahead of its time.

The guy who took those photos came to Deace's ISU fan site (Cyclone Nation I think) and posted those pictures and everyone said they were fakes. That was months before the story broke if I remember right. I remember thinking they don't look fake to me.

Apparently everything around this time period had nonstop Adobe Flash content!!

MonkeyThis was pretty awesome and way ahead of it's time. I remember they did alcohol deliveries near the end. I worked with them on a few projects through the College of Business when they started up. They had a full semi-grocery store setup to pick from that was in the bottom of one of the towers off Welch.

I think they later became Snappy's Delivery or something like that.

Used this pretty reliably in Ames circa 2008
