***Iowa postgame thread***

The biggest thing I can't wrap my head around his how selfish this team has become, I thought the end of this season would signal the end of Hoiball with all his guys being gone but it came a few months early.

Prohm can't win the same way as Fred, he has to establish his own style, he's going to have to figure out how to use Monte, he's not cut out to be the alpha, he's a facilitator, he just doesn't look comfortable in his role. NBA team watching his reluctance to take contact and get to the rim are surely not seeing an NBA PG. He needs to showcase his strengths rather than try to fix his weaknesses. Right now this team has no identity and leader. We find those two things, we can turn this around.

Someone needs to ask why Holden is still starting. he should be playing spot minutes. He is by far the worst rebounding big on the team and worse than most of the guards.

Prohm's offense or lack of reminds me of McD. It works fine against bottom of the barrel teams, but not against teams that play any kind of defense
JFC!!!! You have to be kidding right? Prohm isn't game planning a slow tempo like McD did! We are playing slow because this team has no offensive identity right now. We aren't getting buckets in transition because we can't rebound the ball cleanly and get the quick outlet pass. That is a huge difference and to even make a Prohm/McD comparison is a complete insult.

I just don't understand how they apparently watch film and the offense never improves. Missing shots was frustrating and missing layups was even more frustrating, but the most frustrating part of last night was watching how boring and uncreative our offense was. Last night I watched our guards nonchalantly pass it around the outside until someone throws up a shot. We rarely tried to go inside & we passed up opportunities to drive to the basket

I don't think he hated coaching/recruiting as much as specifically he didn't like coaching here. The story that was used was a good way to get out of here though.

Like I said, I think he goes back to college sooner rather than later. And probably at a school we play often.
Fred's not coming back to coach college. And he definitely isn't going to come back and coach at Kansas.

That's because our guys are afraid of contact!!! They want to shot long 2's instead of driving, looking for contact and drawing a foul. And give Soloman and Holden some paint touches when they have post up position, they both had numerous times where they had great position but the guards wouldn't pass the ball inside to them.

I am not convinced right now they won't be in the bottom half of the big 12 and out of the tournament. All the teams in the Big 12 are probably better than that Iowa team.

i have noticed people have a hard time accepting that the cyclone fanbase over-obsession is the reason why hoiberg left. he did not want to be worshipped. prohm is here to teach this fanbase a lesson about not worshipping their golden calf [hoiberg in this case].

Have you watched the NBA, ever? I'm pretty sure being able to run your mouth is a prerequisite to enter the league. Something tells me NBA GMs won't give the slightest **** about some comment he made after a frustrating loss that wasn't even remotely offensive.

Agreed, now his play on the other hand.

Should have left many of the starters on the bench when ISU made the run to get back to within 7 and had the ball.

Also, I'd love to know what Holden is giving ISU, other than fouls. Bowie and Young clearly WAY better than Holden, yet he starts. Wild.

I was severely disappointed in our seniors, especially Monte. Pathetic decisions and barely ever attacked the rim, worst in the first half but that continued in the second as well. Monte must be better or the run of NCAA tournament appearances is done.

I think a lot of people aren't realizing that we're going to need to do more than 9-9 or 10-8 in conference play this year to be safely into the tournament. We are now outside the top 100 in RPI with a real empty resume heading into the B12.

In previous years they could have survived this record because they scheduled much better. This year the scheduling was atrocious. Too many sub 200 and 300 teams.

Just watched the Prohm post game, wow, we're in trouble. Still thinks our shooters are our strength??? While I don't think his scheme(whatever it may be) resembles McD, I feel his ability to reach his players and get them incorporate what he wants just isn't there.

This team plays cocky instead of hard nosed. We have had that problem in the past and they came together. Not sure if we have the parts for a turnaround but we shall see.
This! Or "entitled" I don't know what to call it-but it goes back to the Hoiberg era. Team comes out and the body language attitude is "Really don't want to be here" going through the motions kind of a thing. Makes the team very hard to watch and to root for. It's common in Pro BB games-but they play 100+ games-kind of makes it understandable. I think college teams have to bring it every night, if they don't you get the game we got last night. I try to be positive-but that game last night was pathetic.

We whiffed BIGTIME on the interior. Like whiffed by epic proportions. I'm not sure what they saw in Holden, but that guy.... wow.

Any objective analyst would say the same. They are our strength. Just not when we're dribbling around for 25 seconds and have to launch late shots. Coach Prohm was mad. Just got to love these universal pronouncements based on a sentence you don't like.

Yep, not only do we lack the "good" wins that we've had in previous year, we are really lacking in the 75-200 win range where we've done a lot of work in previous years, especially 2013-14 and 2015-16.
