Iowa pees down it’s leg

LOLOLOL listening to Morning Rush. Barely a word about #3 Cyclones basketball of course. Last caller telling all the things they need to fix in the portal and he basically mentioned every single position... like SWARM has that kind of resources.

I don't know what kind of QB they think is going to transfer into this joke of an offense and save them.

Maybe 6. 7 seems like a stretch for a defunct offense and defense that seems to be taking a step back. Going to be hard to punt their way to wins next year.

I mean I could also see them starting out 6-0. I’ll believe ISU can beat them in Jack Truce again when I actually see it. Indiana loses a ton of guys don’t they? Wisconsin just seems to be sputtering under Fickel.

I see PSU and Oregon as the two good B1G teams they'll face.

Who knows if ISU can put it together for CyHawk in Ames.

Everything else there is toss up ish at best.

Yet again….

Lots are blaming the refs yet again, what’s new. Just the Iowa coaching staff going what they do best…overthinking.
Was Missourit offsides? HAHAHAHA

Where is the ball and where are the Missouri players' hands? They are looking at the marker to gain a first down and saying they are offsides.

Iowa fans are delusional

Most of their skill players are back. Obviously outside of Johnson, but they seemed to do fine without him. Lose 3 starting OL and 3 starting DL, but they are always at least competent at those positions. Where they’re really going to hurt is losing all 3 LBs plus Castro in their hybrid position. Still, they’re probably 7-5 at least unless things really fall apart.

Skill players outside of Johnson? What are these skills that you speak of, like pottery skills?

Their RB was wide open for an easy 1st down on a critical 3rd and 2. The ball just bounced off his hands. Are these the skills you speak of returning?

I’m just not convinced they have the type of team to thrive in toss up games next year.

My only thought here is why listen to that crap? The only Cyclone on that station is Heather, and she always sounds like someone farted and she's disgusted by the smell.

Hasn't that been the case forever now?

I don't follow Iowa much but they have the same team every year.

Solid at least on defense and special teams, bad but opportunistic on offense and if it's a close game it comes down to about 4 plays and the stronger fundamental team generally wins there, of which Iowa often is.

They've been skating by on opportunistic/unlikely sh*t like punt/kick/fumble/INT returns for touchdowns for years, winning despite being largely unable to consistently move the ball and score offensive touchdowns.

That feels like 6-7 wins maybe, if they do their usual thing. Bucky, Minny, Nubs... one or two of those will fall apart.
But if the defense goes from top 20 to top 40... it could be 4-8 pretty fast.

Probably. But I bet if you asked their coaches and players they would think they have an advantage in those types of games. And they still make plenty of flukey things happen when games get weird.

I think the defense takes a big step backwards next year. That’s the most important aspect of them weirding up games. I think they will really struggle to dictate the type of game they want to play, let alone win those types of games.

Castro was out for the Michigan State game and boy was it obvious. They're also really going to miss Jay Higgins. Missouri did a great job getting open even with their backup wide receivers, so it'd be nice if we could exploit that next fall.

Ethan Hurkett is using his Covid year to return. So they only lose Yahya Black and Deontae Craig. Max Llewellyn is going to have a big senior year for them so I don't anticipate much of a dropoff along the defensive line.

Logan Jones is also coming back for a sixth year so they'll return RT, C, & LG from this year's front.

Wetjen will also be using his Covid Card, so let's not kick it to him.

If we can't stop the run it won't matter. Hopefully the defense spends all summer & fall camp working on tackling drills.

Cripes, and the players from that town that are ISU vs Iowa and they are Iowa fans?
What can I say? Not enough intelligent life forms in that situation to even reason that out one way or another.

Brainwashed from an early childhood? Maybe even starting to cheer for the TOE when they were beating up on St. Mary's School of the Blind by 50 every year and thinking that that was normal...I really don't know.

Certainly cannot be their coaching staff and the kids they recruit or pay to play.... especially at Quarterback!

"Solid" on defense is making a pretty big assumption in this case.

At some point those things aren't fluky if they keep happening.

Iowa is generally very good at swarming to the ball on D and is real disciplined on special teams. Other teams aren't as fundamentally sound so a fumble or lack of discipline on their end lead to the special teams issues etc.

I'd expect the same next year no matter who they're losing.

Stranger things have certainly happened than this.
