Now I am excited. Clones vs. the Hawks for one in there back yard. This should be fun. Come on Gibbs, get your butt to Ames.

Do you have a link for this, is it official?

I was hoping Iowa would wait to extend a scholarship offer, this really worries me. It's close to his home and they have wide open PT. I don't think ISU's future really hinges on getting him, but it'd be nice to set a precident of getting the best kids out of Iowa.

The thing that sux for ISU's chances is that weve just brought in 4 guards this year and already have another PG committed for the same year as Gibbs. Is he good friends with Gatens from IC that already committed to Iowa? im sure Liksnatcher will sell him on the idea of playing time right away at Iowa.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison when the kid would be assured of playing time right away for Iowa. I'd love for him to be a Cyclone but am not going to buy that Lickliter is a better recruiter because he won a "head-to-head" recruiting battle.

I don't think the kid is like Stinnett. Maybe he thinks he can win playing time instead of just having it handed to him. Also why would a kid be dumb enought to think that just because he got playing time when he was a freshman that he would never have to compete for that job. Everyone get's recruited over top of. Gibbs would have just as good of shot as a Cyclone then he would a Hawkeye.

I heard if he was going to be offered to play at Iowa, he would most likely take it because that's where he wants to go.

Personally, I would think with Lickliter being new and an "outsider", we would have an advantage with Coach Mac. This assuming that all other things are equal (meaning he isn't a huge clone or hawks fan).

I don't know, I would consider the copious amount of playing time available at Iowa and the fact that his AAU teammate in Gatens is going to Iowa to be a pretty good draw. If he doesn't come to ISU over Iowa I wouldn't blame him.

Well, unless he wants to win championships, then he better come to ISU.

Tom Kakert of HawkeyeReport said this today:

"Also, the assessment of where things stand with Gibbs is off the mark according to our sources. Right now he is down to four schools that he is seriously considering: Wisconsin, Iowa, ISU, and UNI. Iowa and Wisconsin are slightly ahead of the other two at this point. No clear leader."

That doesn't really surprise me with all the guards we've picked up lately. I haven't seen him play, along with the other guards we have so I can't compare them to one another. But I'm really not upset that we may not get him. I'd be a little more upset if he were a PF or a Center.

I would hate to see another great Iowa kid get snatched up by Wisconsin though.

I'd love to see him go to Wisconsin if we can't get him, I'd hate to have to actually play him if he's as good as advertised.

Honestly though, I kind of agree with you. I still think the immediate needs of the program center around getting big guys especially with the 6 guards we already have committed for the next 2 years. Plus, I really like everything I've heard about Buckley.
