The growth of some of those schools over the last decade has been impressive. Lot of people moving out to the burbs with good jobs and making a lot of money. While the inner city schools are being left behind. You have districts like Van Meter that are getting kids open enrolled because parents do not think their kid is good enough to play at Waukee. Hell a few years ago, one of Waukee GBB head coach was sending his son to play at VM.
Oh you mean SCCTV...the "conference" network that all the schools agreed to support and get it on wheels only for Knoxville to hire the guy that runs it full time and turn it into a full time Knoxville network after using the rest of the conference to gain viewers and followers? Yeah...their great.
That is incorrect. GoSCCTV was heavily supported by Knoxville. The Iowa Media Network team came to Knoxville and pitched the idea based on the amount of sponsors within the Knoxville area. And in the pitch they presented their top broadcaster to Knoxville. It wasn't a Knoxville thing to pursue them.
What schools appear to be going up and down for football classes? Which 8 mans are being forced up and which 11 men are dropping also?
Would this be for next school year already, or 26-27?
Heard back in the summer that Urbandale and Ames had been talking about getting in the same league one way or another. Had someone at Urbandale tell me pretty much this LHC with a large and small school division was in the works with Urbandale and Ames going.
Not sure what makes sense for these Alliance schools. DMPS, Marshalltown and Ottumwa are probably logical partners. Waterloo East I don't think will exist as the two Waterloo schools combine. Mason City and Fort Dodge are tough geographically.
I'm sure it's a pretty big thing. Pretty sure one of Johnston's better baseball players last year came from Marshalltown, and they have a good forward on the girls basketball team that played at DM North a couple years ago, and they had a pretty good team.
There are probably tons of examples.
I keep finding myself asking, "Why do we need conferences?" Everyone makes the playoffs in all sports except football. Conferences aren't even taken into account for these sports.

Not true to a point on them not taken into account. It can help smaller schools as in some sports if they beat a bigger class school they get bonus points for playoff seeding. Hurts larger schools though.
Scheduling mainly.
That's the hardest job any AD has and being in a conference takes some of that pressure away.
Some of the small school ADs would struggle to fill a full basketball schedule without conferences.
You wonder what would happen if NIL hits high schools, especially suburban schools.
Especially girls basketball. It's next to impossible to schedule out of conference games. If you are a decent team, non of the good teams want to play you and you get nothing from playing awful teams.
If you eliminated conferences, then you will have the state being in charge of scheduling two dozen basketball games for hundreds of teams. It would be a nightmare for the association.
PCM came out and said they weren't looking to leave either. That one kind of surprises me. In the mid-2000s when they were looking to leave the SCC they basically begged the Little Hawkeye to take them.

I would guess the PCM does not want to have to play the larger schools in the new conference, even if they are split, there are going to be a few cross over games. PCM is not really close to any other SCC team, at least the rest of the schools have one or two within a 30 minute drive, while the closest to them would be Eddyville, I would guess, a little longer than 30 minutes and then its an hour or further to everyone else.
Edit, Knoxville would be their closest game, then Eddyville. I keep forgetting they added Knoxville back after they had also left.
