Stopped at River Hops in the Dirty Dodge this wkend they have a Honeyweizen on top it was yummy.

Recently visited Toppling Goliath for the first time as an out of stater. Their draft only Wasserfall Pils is one of best beers I've ever had. Helluva venue they have there.

Recently visited Toppling Goliath for the first time as an out of stater. Their draft only Wasserfall Pils is one of best beers I've ever had. Helluva venue they have there.
They've started to make some really good lagers and I'd rather they can those than the newest Quadruple IPA collab with some other brewery that they charge $30/4 pack for.

Or a $75 4pk of BA Stouts (Term Oil). I get they're in demand & people will buy them. But man that price really jumps out at you on a retail shelf. I agree that TG does do lagers really, really well. My wife & I typically go to the taproom once every couple of weeks & their Pils has become my go-to.

The craft industry seems to have recently started to trend towards more traditional styles after a few years of almost exclusively Hazies, fruited/lactose sours, & BA stouts being the most sought after styles. I really enjoyed those styles (and still do), but it is nice to see some "variety" coming back around.

I've almost completely burned out on all of those styles. I lost interest in BA stouts 5-6 years ago because of the insane cost, and I just found them to be unpleasant to drink in any quantity. The first sip was usually amazing, but they're so hard to finish. Hazies have just gotten too sweet or too "green" and have a tendency to fry the back of my throat. I still love the flavor of hops and still drink hazy IPAs regularly, but in much lower volumes. Fruited/lactose sours have always felt like a novelty to me and I rarely drink juice or heavily sugared beverages of any kind. I do love old school Foeder type of sours that taste less like candy.

I've been drinking a lot more regular beer lately. For craft beer, I've been leaning hard on pilsners, and IPAs with ABVs 7% or less.

We don't go to many taprooms currently and typically just drink at home, so my preferences have changed a bit too. I liked some of the experimental stuff when I could have a taster or just one pour. But when faced with buying 4-6 cans of anything, I make sure it's something I want 4-6 of, which tends to be just a good lager, pilsner, or cream ale. I'll occasionally do some IPAs, but I'm pretty picky on those too. I never buy a group of sours. I just don't like them enough to drink more than one at a time.

I agree with a lot of this but I still really enjoy hazys. I'd say those and lagers or pilsners are my go to craft beers. Love a tiny pour of a heavy stout but have a hard time going through a 4 pack of tall boys so I never buy them just get small pours at taprooms. Some of the IPAs are getting pretty crazy in cost though

Love a tiny pour of a heavy stout but have a hard time going through a 4 pack of tall boys so I never buy them just get small pours at taprooms. Some of the IPAs are getting pretty crazy in cost though
I love the flavor of hazys, but they just seem heavier in my stomach every day, and the price is getting wild on some of them.

Not Iowa but Brickway Brewery out of Omaha has a really good jalapeno pineapple pilsner I've been drinking lately. It has really good jalapeno flavor without the heat. It's a perfect summer crusher.

That sounds really good. I've had some other Brickway beers (a stout and a pale ale) and enjoyed them. I'll have to look for this pilsner.

Smore's Term Oil 4-packs in the DM metro. Seems like I passed on this last year because they were trying to sell it at a ridiculous cost per can, but the 4 pack now costs 22$...Went back and looked, I believe they were selling it at ~20$ a can in 2019....wonder if my local grocer just has it mislabeled...
